Guy N said:Seems to be. He's the only one who uses the term professionally. He has been around for a long time and has attracted many claims from the German educational establishment to the effect that he is a Luddite.
A few searches later, yeah he seems to be the a*** behind it all.
Funny met him after I was dragged to a German TV show recording a year back. Told him to his face we wouldn't even be able to talk to each other if it wasn't for TV consumption, computers and Internet. He looked flabbergasted, till I explained him I learned 4 languages (among them German and English)just by watching TV and using the Internet.
But hey even TV is bad for kids, even if they could learn different languages. So he goes on TV to spew hatred against the medium itself. Well that and to promote his old-fashioned crap.
I never remember names from people who just don't seem important...
But I can't forget a face that looks like he's got a stick up his arse and a hatred against the world. Or as I would describe him in German: Verbitterter griesgrämiger ewiggestriger. (embittered grumpy hopelessly outdated man.)
Which reminds me why I sometimes love the German language: Internet ausdrücker, just sounds so much better than: Someone who prints out articles from the Internet before reading.

I don't care about it, till this day I haven't seen any proof that it's actually a thing. More likely the whole digital dementia is another "cell phones give you cancer" bogus scare level.
And if the first few hits on google lead me to fox news and the like, that only proofs that it's a bogus scare.
In comparison 0 hits on PubMed.
And honestly the whole comparison to; back in the day people used to remember a dozen phone numbers? Yeah don't need to anymore, but I can remember 5 dozen 12+ symbol passwords. But hey I'm just one of the 30+ year olds that grew up doing homework on a PC and had a cellphone as a teenager.

If you don't have a dedicated GPU that would explain much. Intel HD integrated graphics is bullocks.

Yes and no, While I personally always spend a little too much on my hardware. It tends to last a long time. Before I upgrade I will over-clock, since i already decided that it's time for more power why not bring that GPU close to a boil?
For most people a good setup at 700€ will last a few years.
And honestly that Phenom II X4 965 is barely being used, so why buy a newer CPU?
A 285GTX (factory over-clocked) might not give the latest DX11 features or ultra specs but at the moment it still runs new games at stable FPS and will last till my planned upgrade on Witcher 3 release.
Off-course you can run after the latest hottest piece of hardware, but why would you? It's only been a few months that games started to come out on a larger scale that will actually use a 64-bit OS.
