  1. Subtitle format for TW3

    27.05.2013 @ 16:03

I have one belated bone to pick wth CDPR about TW2, and that's how subtitles were done. Basically, I enjoy playing the game in Polish, but in TW2, they disappear as lines are said, which means on more than a few occasions I found myself missing text when the conversation was brisk and the lines were long. I suggest either having a journal where recent dialog is recorded, or using a scrolling format like old RPG's used to do where the last spoken line greys out and scrolls up to make room for the new line. Or maybe have both. So did anyone playing the game in a foreign language run into this issue?

Oh sweet jesus, I was waiting for news of what FWH was up to. It will be a reboot of an old school ultra violent Yakuza-themed shooter. If that doesn't get you aroused, just remember that FWH is the Polish dev responsible for the exceptional Hard Reset, a game so addictive I was ready to pump it into my veins. FWH seems perfectly suited for this type of violent and in your face title. Here's the original.

  3. Divinity: original sin

    05.03.2013 @ 02:03

Anyone stoked for this game? I'm a big fan of Larian. When it comes to level design and exploration they are second to none. Even though this game will be turn based I'm tempted to get it anyway. Sven Vinke, the team lead is an interesting guy, quite outspoken on DRM, publishers, consoles, etc. Anyway, consider this the official fan thread for this game and post info as it comes in.

  4. How will PS4 players catch up?

    22.02.2013 @ 21:10

Porting TW3 to PS4 on the face of it sounds great. They finally get to experience this rich world, amazing characters and superb story...in the final version. I was thinking of this and it seems too little too late for that platform. They will have missed out on a metric ton of lore and story, and I'm not sure a couple of intro vids a la TW2 will cut it this time. The more I think of this in the context of how trilogies in the industry are handled, the more I see it as a potential story telling hurdle. I know they don't want to blank slate it like ME2 did - kill Shepard, now he's yours. But how is CDPR going to present this world to an entirely new audience for the final game in the trilogy?

-They port TW2 over as well, before TW3 releases. This would be ideal, but seems unlikely given the packed schedule they have. And even then, no console users get TW1.

-Geralt getting his memory back will be the story telling device used to give noobies a clean slate to work with.

-The game comes with a printed or digital short story like TW1 had. This would be good too, if I thought gamers would read it...

-They just make the damn game and let the players catch up. But then they emphasized TW3 will be a great place to start the adventure. Lets face it, the last game is not the best place to begin a trilogy.

So how do you guys think they can give PS4 players a complete experience without sacrificing the narrative continuity? How much catch-up is possible at this point?
  5. Focus mode: press 'A' to win.

    21.02.2013 @ 01:42

After viewing the recent vid there is much to be excited about. But one thing concerns me - focus mode. It sounds an awful lot like Batman's detective mode which was an insult to the player's intelligence. There was no searching for clues, deducing and drawing conclusions. The game did it for you. Indeed, the Flickering Heart quest while not worthy of a Sherlock Holmes story, demanded much more from the player. I don't want to press the magical 'focus' button and have all the clues staring me in the face. I want to have to search and closely observe what may be a very detailed environment. Then I want to go back into town, buy what I think is the right monster compendium and through trial and error, come to a decision. When you say your 'fans' bitched about not knowing what monsters they might encounter, remember that these were the fans not using their heads or willing to take a risk. Not once did a monster quest bother me in TW1 or TW2 because the prospect of setting out into hostile territory brought with it a degree of the unknown.

Hello :D The water level is pretty stable now, staying at 1 meter then one person said it's going away soon, another guy said it's staying for a month, so I'm not sure who to believe anymore. We has finally gotten used to it, I guess xD heh, thank you for asking though. How are you? :)
