    Re-install Steam by following these instructions (If steamguard is enabled, make sure you/friend knows the login/password

    And Steam does NOT use any IE components in it's browser. (Moderator Source)

    However, applications may conflict if libary's are pooping out request that causes loops or silly faceplants. Could either be steam or IE. Or a third hidden cause that's most likely anti-virus/virus/limited hardware/a driver that causes ticks to disrupt you (Software with X-day trail for example).

    btw, Crash dumps from steam can be found in Steam/dump/ XXXXXX.dmp

    You can open it with this tool. (Install Debugging Tools for Windows as a Standalone Component (from Windows SDK))
