  1. In Topic: Witcher 2's frustrating combat system

I just finished playing the Witcher 2, as much as think its a great overall improvement in comparison to the first game, I thought it was a bit of a step backwards in terms of the combat system. So I compiled my own little list of what I missed from The Witcher that should of been in the The Witcher 2:

    1. The ability to flip over an opponent.
    2. The ability to choose combat style.
    3. The ability to drink potions during battle.
    4. It was easier to spot in The Witcher when Geralt was able to preform special combinations.

I would also like to see in the future, perhaps in the witcher 3, the ability to preform special combinations with the witcher signs alongside with Geralt's attacks or defensive maneuvers. Perhaps if you're fighting alongside with another main character, you could have combo attacks where you merge your attacks or defensive maneuvers with your allies (kind of like in Chrono Trigger). It could potentially add a whole new element to the general gameplay.

It does sound like a heat problem. When this game's just sitting there doing nothing, it drives the GPU at 100%. Even the fairly low power 5700-series cards will run at 80 to 100 watts or more when you do that, and that heat has to go somewhere. Depending on the GPU cooler design, it may just blow it around inside the case. ›››

The culprit was dry, crusty thermal paste. I cleaned it off and placed some more on the heat sink and the problem has appeared to have fixed itself.
  3. In Topic: I LOVE IT vs I HATE IT

At the moment I'm playing The Witcher Enhanced Edition and I'm up to chapter 3. This is my first time playing the game so my opinion on it may change after I've completed it.

    What I love:

    The side quests
The overall game play (in terms of battle sequences)
Environmental changes during game play (rain, day and night etc.)
    The graphics
The price (I picked up my copy from steam for under $5)

    What I hate:

The game crashes on my computer from time to time
The fact that the game is overally sexualized.

I am a female gamer, and I don't appreciate the idea of sex cards, kinky clothing (have you seen the underwear that the female characters wear?), straight out in your face nudity, and the idea of in order to complete some the quests you have to sleep with people.

This might sound like a Feminist rant (no, I'm not a Feminist, I hold to Egalitarianism) but its a shame in my mind, that a brilliant game such as The Witcher comes with extra stuff that isn't necessary and unfortunately in this case, weighs it down. :no

Who were the developers trying to appeal to, teenage boys who are 'forever alone', or the general audience of gamers? I hope that this has been improved upon in The Witcher 2.

Come to think of it, are there any mods out there that censor some of the material in the game?

I'm not going to worry too much about it, I am upgrading my computer (with the help of my lil bro who's studying computer engineering at college). So I'll keep playing the game as is until then.

After experimenting around a bit, I've found that the computer appears to cool down (I've been using SpeedFan to monitor temperatures) when I minimize The Witcher. I don't know if that helps in offering any clues to what could be the problem. The computer doesn't shut down when I do this.
