    Try to run another DVD-disc and see if your drive works correctly. If yes, then the disc may be defective, in which case you should take it back to your retailer's shop and ask for another copy.

    There has been some time since I lastly played the game, but I think what you say it is mentioned somewhere, or at least you reach to this conclusion from the context in one of Letho's and/or Ioverth's discussions.
