  1. The influence of publishers in game development

    06.03.2013 @ 21:25

The one thing that the (awesome) guys at CD Projekt RED never get tired of repeating is the importance for them to stay independent, to have no limitation whatsoever on their creativity.

Many people are convinced that some publishers, say EA or Microsoft, made certain games, especially sequels, worse than they could have been if they hadn't imposed their arbitrary decisions on the development team.

So I wonder, is this true? Or rather, how much is this true? Do the publishers have so important a role in deciding what direction a project has to go in?
  2. Let's not make it degenerate

Is it just me or in the last days the general feel of respect, politeness and common exchange I used to like about this forum is getting a bit overwhelmed by some new (and less new) members' "enthusiasm"? There's quite a bit of hostility over in General Discussion that wasn't so frequent before the recent events.

I always loved the civil and adult atmosphere I could find in this place, and the fact that this is a videogame forum striked me as unbelievable at times. So I wanted to thank everyone who made and kept it this way and encourage everyone else to do the same. We will all gain from it, thanks :)/>
