Recently bought Final Fantasy VII from PSN. Never previously bothered with the FF franchise, even though I've been aware of its existence ever since I was a kid, but I put my AC3 experience on hold for awhile and was looking for an RPG game to play and a friend of mine recommended FF7 (and FF6 for that matter) as a 'must play game' when it comes to good RPGs.

While it has certainly received impressive scores / reviews, not exactly sure what to expect from it. But eh, guess I'll have to find out. ›››

Uuh, Final Fantasy, huh? Well as I have myself played FFVII (and other FF installments as well) I can vouch for that it is truly a spectacular game, with well written characters (Not only do you get a whole cast of characters, but they all are very different and have their own personalities), intriguing plot (mixed equal measures of romantic tension, conspiracy theory, action, pathos, comedy and no "good vs evil" story). It's definitely not your generic JRPG, which is one reason why it is so popular amongst gamers.

But if I know you right, it may not exactly be that type of game you'd expect. As Volsung said, it is after all an JRPG, and it doesn't offer you choices with consequences that impact the world. There are some small choices, mostly between characters, but nothing major. The characters are however very well written, and develop throughout the game. But I'm certain you will enjoy the plot, as well as the characters who accompany you through the journey. The main protagonist, while well written, I highly doubt he'd make it into your rooster of favorite protagonist, but you'll certainly not hate him.

But really, I urge you to give it a shot, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, even with the outdated graphics.

Glad to hear you have enjoyed the show so far, Chew! And yeah, everything you listed about the 10th Doctor is the reasons why I really love David Tennant as the Doctor. And of course his charmin quirky personality really helps a lot. Shame that you didn't like Rose that much. She is one of my favorite characters in the show, and I really burst into tears in the season 2 finale. I think that season really showed how romantically involved the Doctor came to be with his companion, something that hasn't exactly happened before in the same way. And I loved how they did it in a very subtle way, palpable as you described it.

Anyhow, I'm certain you're gonna love further seasons with Tennant. Martha Jones is okay, I like her a lot but she isn't anything really special. But I'm sure you'll like it for different reasons.

Pretty sure you will need a team for it, whether you want it to see the light of day.

    Whaddya mean by "damn"? :D

I'm more of a Triss / Geralt fangirl than a Yen / Geralt one, so I'm happy that there will be a choice (I hope). But I hardly think they will force it.

Not really. I've only played the first one in the series, and I found the justice system a bit dumbed down for my taste, but I enjoyed the characters and writing. Maybe I'll look into the other ones in the future!

Very much! Still haven't finished it, but not much left, considering I'm in Act 3.
