Yep, that would be wise. And if the Cult of Eternal Fire becomes very popular throughout the North, then bingo, more power to Radovid.

My Geralt doesn't fit in any category outlined in the op, well-written though it may be.

Yes, the war can change many things. If he is far-sighted enough, he would determine who in the Order will be a problem, eliminate them quietly, and put his own people in charge. In this case he won't need any trails and persecutions, but a quiet evolution of a fanatical order into something manageable and loyal to him personally. ›››

That is also a possibility. Turn the Order into the elites within a larger, conscripted national army.

One thing he'd need to make sure of is to bind their loyalty to the state and not the Cult of Eternal Fire.

Well, if after destroying Northern magic Radovid will turn against the Order as well, which is still a formidable fighting force, he could just surrender to Emhyr right away because no fraction in a sane mind would ally with him. ›››

I do not think he would do so during the war. Such a thing would only happen after the war. Radovid is not stupid, why would he want to wipe out a very capable military force in the middle of a war.

I'm sure he will see it soon enough. Your analogy to Philip IV the Fair is a good one. But Radovid will do well to undermine the Order and turn the people against them, as you advise.

There's one thing worse than having armed fanatics on your own soil, and that's making martyrs of them. Philip's own ruthlessness in going beyond even a pretense of due process in suppressing the Templars made a martyr of de Molay and, if there's anything to curses, brought about his own ruin. ›››

    Yes absolutely.

If Radovid was willing to pretend to go through a trial and due process for Philippa who he hates, I think it's likely that he'd do the same with the Order. And in any case, that would only happen if the North remains, so he'd be doubly popular.

Sorry for contributing to getting your thread closed Knight, I don't hold with feminism, but I hold with everybody expressing well reasoned opinions like your own. I shouldn't have raised the point about Saskia just needing to button up compared to Isabella's unarmoured and unclothed state, bound to be divisive. Regards, Bloth.

Something from Plato dialogues for you my friend
τόν μη δυνάμενον αἰδοῦς καί δίκης μετέχειν κτείνειν ώς νόσον πόλεως = meaning he who does not participate in public affairs should be killed as if it was the cause of a city plague :)
