Was the blacksmith from last chapter (IV) the last one I'll see capable of forging a meteroite sword or adding runes to a silver sword? I've read mention of receiving more runes and meteorites in chapter V and the epilogue, but don't see any obvious place to use them.

So, when will I see my last chance to apply runes and meteorites in the making/upgrading of my swords in the game?

Thank you!

No he wasn't, there is a blacksmith in Act V. Blacksmiths all have the ability to forge new blades from runes or meteorites, in every act of the game. My question would be why? if you are in Act V, you should have Aerondight by now for silver and Gwalhir was available from the Blacksmith's son in murky waters in Act IV. I'd say (IMHO) that no meteorite swords beats Gwalhir and no rune sword beats Aerondight, until the end of Act V and then those are rewards for quests

So after the final act of witcher and the end game sequence, when you have theses 2 swords ...Gwalhir...Aerondight, and they do decide to make witcher 2 or as I like to call it,..( CALL of the Witcher ).

would you actually start the new game with the 2 swords or  start from scratch AH... to easy right

I know this has got nothing to with with ur thread but its just a dumb ?  that i came up with.....

but you forgot to mention the armor you get thats dwarven or order made from act 5 that allows  3 potion bottles on ur hud, so it makes the end battle scene quite different because of the new body wear...

I would think if it was TW 2 then you would start fresh.

If there was a expansion to TW then maybe you get to use existing saves and your swords you already have.  Although the adventure they released so far just gives you some levels and talents to spend from scratch.

last chanse is before you get inside old manor, if you get it, possible you will not be able to get to old vizima, but if you just walk around it and don't get inside - you can go back (finaly I could make myself yellow meteorit sword :D )
If you side with order, then orders blacksmith will make you swords, if with non-humans - then there is a dwarf in forge (all in old vizima) and if you stayed neutral... maybe kalstein?...
by the way, if you killed all trophy monsters ,you can get steel/silver sword for that.

Don't think so. Last time I played through I was neutral, and was looking for a blacksmith in Chapter V; I eventually found the Order one, but he wouldn't do anything for me.

Personally, my Geralt never uses curved or single-edged swords; they're anachronistic and ugly. So he keeps Aerondight and a meteorite sword to the end. It doesn't seem to be a disadvantage.

just armor .. it's a special deal just for Geralt as far as i recall

I'm perplexed .. why on earth would you want a meteorite or rune sword in Act V?  both the awesome swords become available then and they blow any meteorite or rune sword out of the water (IMHO, of course)

The main point about this is why have treasures found in the last Acts that you Cannot use. I'm sure I've found  yellow meterorite in Act V which is not much use if there's no where to forge it. The sme goes for the other treasure like orens etc. If there's no shop keeper what's the point?

My take on this is that the game developers might be as much interested in telling a story as making a game. That story, to me more credible, will include unpleasant realities.

Sometimes we quest for things that are of great value at the moment, but are of little value by the time we actually acquire them.
Or perhaps their value remains but our ability to use them is diminished. This is life.

Unpleasant frustration in a game, yes.
Realistic story telling, yes.
Some say that Pirates steal, and should be feared and hated.
I say we're victims of bad press, it's all exaggerated.
We'd never stab you in the back, we never lie or cheat.
We're just about the nicest guys you'd ever wan

There are only two major purchases in the game.

Excellent Leather Jacket in Chapter II.

Gwalthir in Chapter IV.

Tip:  BUY GWALTHIR.

I didn't do this and ended the game with 20k Orens and Dandelion with a full inventory since I gave him all my good stuff at the dock, and I ended up dumping a full inventory of mine on the ground and not looting after that.

Went all the way to Striga (and everything else but the Manor done) with Harvall.

The Fence, as far as I could tell, disappears after the battle is over.  Pretty much sell everything to him, because you wont need it.

And make sure to go to the Manor dead last, or you will miss the Dentist and the Huntsman.
