The Witcher and Hitler Youth are alike in certain ways. Both were subjected to mental engineering that they didn't entirely agree with but had little choice. But, that's off topic.

Geralt is far from a Hero. He's far too indifferent and inconsistent. At times his loyalty is available to the highest bidder, and at other times he seems to be guided by some fucked up moral-compass. Look at what happened with Renfri in the Last Wish. Pristine example.

Nevertheless I think we should close this chapter here and return to Berengar  ;D
I can see what you see not, Visions milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind – cast down into the Halls of the Blind…

1) I love debates, don't stop it! It's going good so far, no one is getting emo and cursing incessantly and we're all being decent.
2) Renfri wasn't cursed by the Black Sun, in my opinion. And Geralt didn't believe it either, at least I don't think so, but that's kind of irrelevant considering he still killed her in the end. Again, the Witcher contradicts himself. In Vizima he killed two drunks just to intimidate the town and yet with Renfri he suddenly grew a conscience. A true hero cannot decide when he uses his conscience, he uses it at all times. Plus, I mean, Renfri sounded hot and the mage was pompous... Shouldn't have killed her! =*(
3) Hitler youth were not volunteers, some were, yes, but majority of them were forced into it by their parents or taken by the government because of their physical apperance.

I have nothing against debattes but Renfri and Hitler Youth have nothing to do with Berengar. If you want to discuss theses topics you can start new threads in convenient forums ;) Please note that political discussions are quite unsuitable in a game forum, even in the off topic section.

LOL. Geralt is a REAL hero, and REAL heroes have no place in society. How they view themself has got nothing to do with what the rest of the world says about them. Thats the difference between reality and fictional heroes which if they did exist in a real world would live terrible lives -that is what Geralt is. Also it depends which side you take. Bin Laden is the hero of the Islamic world, but a villain in the West. In many cases heroism is a political label -most war heroes have to live in denial. Nobody walks around calling themself a hero if they have no power to influence or change the situation of the world. Hell, noone would admit they were a hero because that is the nature of a great person. You can sit by all your life in mediocrity and go with the flow and you will have achieved nothing, because by the time you realise you can't please everyone you would have failed to make any impact in your world around you. I dont think you understand what a hero actually means.

I think you need to research the definition of the word Hero a bit more. Geralt is as much a Hero as he is a Villian. Why? Because he upsets the balance of things, whether it be for better or worse is irrelevant. By your definition the Hitler Youth were Heroes... They were torn from their homes and subjected to mental engineering and ended up being more ferocious fighters than the vast majority of the Allies soldiers.

Just because one is a victim of torture does not instantly martyr them. But we're talking about a game, an RPG, no less. How can you argue that the protagonist is a Hero when you yourself are a direct influence over the choices made throughout the game?
