While playing the english version you definitely noticed the famous *angry voice* "HOW!!?" from Geralt. They reused this sound several times and it's funny the first time but an atmosphere killer overall. I found a more neutral "How?" sound and replaced all the other.

Remember the pesky Alvin in act IV while he follows you around? Everytime a foe appears he starts screaming:
I dont want you!
I dont want you!
I dont want you!
Help! Help me!
I dont want you!
Help! Help me!
Help! Help me!
I dont want you!

.. well I stuffed his mouth.

Next annoying sound was the choral hum the teleporters create while opened and idle. Especially the one inside the swamp tower likes to annoy me while speaking with Kalkstein. So i turned that sound down a bit.

And at last, the area changing sound. Everytime you click on an door to a new area this sounds plays. Even if you click the "road to the fields" you hear this door opening sound. I muted it too.


Put this into your data folder and delete what you don't like to be replaced:

If you know other annoying sounds, let me know and i try to fix them. At the moment I'm searchig the "HOONOARR!" sound the guards shout repeatly.

I second this request -- their shouting honor is REALLY annoying.

With the release of the ehanced edition this will become obsolete. Or maybe not, we'll see.

The teleport sound is annoying, squeaky, and high pitched. It's definitely annoying.

Does anyone have working links or a copy of the silence is golden and howl mods? Every link I've found leads to the main forum page here or to megaupload (which is useless thanks to a really bought US Govt atm). Whoever came up with the teleport gate sound is a sadist

Tommy has a copy of the Silence Is Golden mod, and I've just asked him to upload it to Nexus for you.

The How (NOT "howl") mod seems not to be available anymore.

YES! That sound drives me nuts! But, the Silence Is Golden mod doesn't make that sound go away, you know. It only disables the thunder sound when changing areas. The How mod would remove it, if we can find it.

After checking the audio files in the mod i found the gate sound and about 7 files of Geralt saying "How" and 2 files called Alvin with no sound and 1 new-map.wav that also makes no sound .
