So when I bought this game I could barely run it in low settings. I have
2 Gigs RAM
NVidia 8300 GS
Windows Vista Home Premium 32x
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ processors
I then downloaded the latest drivers
Now, it will run KINDA fine in low settings, but when I tried to bump it up to medium, I get an average of about 9 FPS (running Fraps) I can't even imagine what it would run High settings at. What is the problem here? My system is running EXCEEDING the RECOMENDED system requirements. Is this how the game run s for you guys? Am i stuck running it in low settings? Because I did not buy an 8300 to run games in low settings. And of course there is no tech support to call... and if I e-mail I know I will get the old "Install latest drivers" Well I did that and it didn't work. Any fixes guys? PLEASE?
EDIT: Just ran fraps in Low Settings... and it returned an average of 14 FPS. This is rediculous! There is no way my computer can't run this game looking at the recommended requirements...

your 8300 is not the top notch card, it's at the bottom of the list....
look it up in here (comparison of the 8000 series from nvidia) http://www.nordichar.../news,5442.html

Oh dear, it seems we have another that somehow thinks an 8300GS is a decent card. Sorry to say but it certainly DOES NOT meet MINIMUM requirements.
Take a look here http://www23.tomshar...2=722&chart=275 and you'll see that although your card isn't listed, there is an 8400GS (a step up from yours) and you'll also see that the 8400GS really struggles against the ancient nvidia 6600, which funnily enough IS the a minimum requirement for 'The Witcher'
So your only 'fix' is to buy a better card. And in future maybe you should do some research before buying new hardware.

I didn't know that... but I figured that it would be better than the 7800 the game recomends... am I mistaken?
You are hugely mistaken.

Yes... I JUST did some reasearch right now and I WAS under the impression that bigger number meant better card... Wow was I wrong. Okay now I really understand the problem I have been having.... just wow. I can't believe how ignorant I was in terms of NVidia's card list. Sorry to waste your time guys. I will definately need to buy a new card. Thank you for opening my eyes.

Sadly, the important number aint the first, it is the second... the higher the second is, the better is the card :(
7900 > 8200
It is not obvious i know, they seem to do this to confuse peeps ! It is the same with ATI

Don't be sorry! You've just fallen foul of nividias naming policy (ati are just as bad). You're not the first and certainly won't be the last.

And just wondering.. but what do you guys recommend for a new card... I'm on a very tight budget and can probably drop around 50-100 dollars. I don't need high end gaming cards... just something that will allow me to at least play this game moderately well.
I assume you mean US dollars? Well you won't get much for $50 and even $100 will only get you a 8600GT. Not brilliant but it will play the game OK. If i were you i would try and save a little more and aim for an Ati X1950pro, HD3850 or 256mb nvidia 8800GT.

Yeah I feel REALLY retarded. I can't believe I didn't realize. So I was looking at is an 8500 GT and okay card? It's only $80 bucks... will it run this game okay?
Heheh you're replying faster than i can edit my posts :)
Myself, i would stay away from the 8500GT and try to aim for an 8600GT or even a 7600GT if you budget is really tight.
Check out the link i gave you an you'll see how much better these 2 cards are compared to the 8500GT.
