Uh yes, I am aware of that. But the setting, the Cyberpunk game (or Cyberpunk 2020 if you will) is a well-established (pen and paper) game where people have traditionally created their own characters and, therefore, very likely expect to do that in a video game as well. Even if a CP2020 character doesn't fit into CP2077, what I am talking about is the style/approach to playing the general "Cyberpunk" role-playing game (PnP or computer). People create their own characters for CP2020, just like they do for Dungeons and Dragons. The setting is made to respond to that. The world of games like The Witcher, however, was made and designed to respond to Geralt.

Yes, there is nothing wrong. We all enjoyed playing as Geralt in the Witcher, and the Nameless One in PS:T. PS:T is a peculiar case however, since it was more like a side project. And even if TNO has a preset background, you get to choose talents and classes in a slightly more meaningful way than specializing Geralt as a magic- or sword-oriented witcher.
All I'm saying is that Cyberpunk 2077 would probably be a richer experience if, like in D&D based computer RPG's, people get to create their own characters. There are roles/classes, talents, interactions, rules already defined, and it would make sense to use them especially if CP2077 draws so much from CP2020. This player created character doesn't *have* to be a blank slate, though. You can choose or be assigned a general background that makes your motivations fit within the game story.
