[ACT I] She's no early Bird (Vesna)

Does anyone have an idea of how to deal with this problem. I get her home, she says she's gonna give me a piece, at the mill, tomorrow evening. I leave but she continues to follow me and eventually dies. What is going on? This has happened 3 times and I am getting irked. Is this a bug?

Did you approach and fight the thugs? Maybe it's some sort of a bug and she will, hopefully, appear once you are done with them...

don't know if the poster is still monitoring this, but after you get her home, you have to run back the way you came, get out of her range, she will walk off on her own in the direction of the mill, if not, she will continue to fight any barghests that come near while they are trying to attack you.

I have looked through the forums and tried every advice I could find here, but she's not there. Only time I've seen her after I completed the escort quest was back at the inn. I'm at my wits end on this, its been several days since I rescued her. But that's not supposed to matter. I have tried resting across the river and at the cave nearby. And running back to the mill at 6,7,8,9pm. I have the wine. But it seems nothing works I've even tried going there as early as 5pm. And waiting all the way til 10pm. Still nothing :(

Yes, I asked her to, and I have tried every combination possible with meditation location and how late I should meditate too. But I discovered when I gave up that no other civilians were around either, and when returning to the inn I had to beat some salamander bandit ass. Unfortunately I was so fustrated with all the crashes that I simply restarted and did it again. This time the first thing I did after asking her to meet me again was meditade and meet at the mill. And to my relief she was there. But from what I have gathered that whole event in the inn may have triggered something to make all the other npc's dissappear until it was resolved. So I its quite possible I should just have kept playing and finished that salamander trouble at the inn. And she'd appear again. Although I don't really wanna go back and confirm it. to much replaying :(
Anyways, thanks for the suggestions.

I did this quest successfully once before on Patch 1.2, but I'm replaying on Patch 1.3 and it seems like 2-3 times the number of barghests are spawning in, from all angle. Even with group style, i can't keep them off her and by the second shrine she's dead. Is this a bug in the patch, or am i frelled? Maybe there's a strategy I'm missing....

I doubt that it is related to the patch, but who knows? My theory about the amount of monsters goes like this: I think that at the start of each chapter a randomizer generates the number of extra monsters for that chapter. I am noticing that some chapters have more baddies than in previous plays, and some chapters have less. Since I always play for a high-level finish, I stay in each chapter long enough to go back to certain areas again and again, so it isn't generated based on a new day. I suppose it could be tied to varying player decisions, but I really think it's a random number generated per chapter.
As to your problem, have you tried running directly to house without stopping to fight? You and Vesna both can outrun the barghests, just don't hesitate along the way. Once you get her home safely you can always go deal with the critters that will respawn on your way back.

I managed to run her home and trigger the cut scene. But immediately afterwards the 8 barghests we had chasing us attacked and she died. I got the quest completion, but will the game respawn her or do i have to reload to meet her at the mill?

Another thing you might try.
After encountering a few barghests, if Vesna's health is low, duck into a hut and then come back out.
If I remember correctly, her health resets to full.

Also note that if you are going the lighting chapel quest barghests spawn when you approach the chapels for that, and if you have Vesna then you get more for her.
This happened to me my first time through - Aard was my only saving feature.
Also, while fighting if you aard every now and again Vesna will occasionally slit one of their throats - it's her only redeeming quality in battle. :P

Both times I played the first chapter I began the Vesna escourt mission in the middle of the shrine-lighting quest. A strategy that worked well for me was to start at the shrine near the chapel and working my way towards the inn. When you pick up Vesna you can take the route that goes near the lake - that way, you only have to worry about passing a single shrine and a handful of drowners (but you can avoid them by staying away from the water for the most part). It's a lot easier to keep her alive if you don't have to fight a dozen Barghests.

I found taking the long way around the lake to be easier, but more tedious.
If really struggling head for the lake, and steer wide of the lake itself to prevent drowner spawn.
