Dark Souls is VERY playable on the PC; but that statement does include a caveat. You must mod the game.
I prefer to play on the PC with mouse and keyboard. Luckily, there are a couple of mods that allow this with ease and fluidity that transform the train wreck out of the box port into the outstanding game that is concealed beneath.
The DSFix is considered mandatory download for anyone wanting to play the game on PC. Among other things, it enables higher graphics settings, multiple game saves, texture modifications and also serves as a platform for other mods to launch from.
Paramount among these other mods is the DSMouseFix. A sweet little mod that completely enables proper mouse use with the game. For someone like me who is absolutely uninterested in using a controller, this mod is an absolute necessity.
I now laugh in the face of those who claim 'you must use a controller' simply because it's just not true. I've clocked up over 150 hours on the game using DSFix and DSMouseFix in tandem. Anyone with a preference for K&M over controllers should give this combination a go. You will like it. Both are available for download on the Dark Souls Nexus.
After all, if K&M IS your preferred method of gaming, then playing Dark Souls with a controller for the first time isn't a kindly way to become accustomed to learning how to use it; and really, isn't necessary, either.

I already downloaded the latest DSfix 2.1 and the game won't even launch, not crash or anything, it just plainly refuses to launch
Tried everything I could think of, disabled DEP, verified integrity, run in Admin mode, XP-Vista compatibility, reinstall the game, every goddamn thing except reinstall my whole machine. (really tempted to try this because some dude said this fixed it for him, but wouldn't really want to unless there's no way else)
Any help is appreciated.

I did that also, no dice />, and i never used any other options other than the resolution and unlock FPS, and changing the res is still working fine. Just as long as i unlock the FPS the game stops working :frustrated:

I am traumatic from many monsters but this is on my second place,on first place are the frogs and on third place are the black knights douche bags...
Also there is that knight with the inventory weight ring near the second boss fight(downstairs) with a huge club.
Too much douche bag enemies in one game

I think the ones in the sewers, and inside the tree, the ones that can curse you if you did not get a red outfit from the swamps, or a ring. They are called basilisks. Hated them too, but on my second run took my time to get a good defense against curses, and they didn't make any problems.
Doomed are those who take lunacy for prophecy, and carcasses for holy arses.

Well it's the superior version only because it's identical to the console version, except it's got dsfix, allowing for unlocking of resolutions and the ability to unlock fps to remove the horrible frame drops in areas like blighttown or chasm of the abyss. however, if you look at it from the multiplayer side, the ps3 and the xbox are both much more active, and invasions and summon signs are much more frequent and fail much less often. multiplayer on the pc is pretty poor, mostly because of the hot mess that is GFWL.
i would honestly consider the ps3 version the best simply because of how much more active and reliable the multiplayer is, and hacking isn't quite as bad, as it's not as easy to hack as it is on the pc, though it's not nonexistent by any means.
