Any MK fans in here? I bring good news! Woohoo!

http://www.eurogamer...or-pc-announced

The last MKs I played were MK Trilogy and MK4, on the PC of course. This is great. Hope it will also sell at a reasonable price. And without too much DRM, preferably none but we all know that's not going to happen.

PC does not equal Windows. Personal computers run many different operating systems, like GNU/Linux and, why not, Windows. PC games should be available for all major platforms. Let's not be handcuffed and tied to one vendor. Utilize standard, cross-platform technologies!

I posted the news in the "other games" thread.

I've been waiting for this announcement for a few months now, ever since it was spotted in the Steam database.
Ed Boon's been trolling like crazy on twitter lately :P

Yeah I just noticed, oops!

In any case, this is pretty cool. I wonder if people realize that back in the day, the PC versions of MKII, MK3 MK4 and even Trilogy were simply the -BEST- home translations available. Closest thing to the arcade. Eventually arcade machines became less popular and MK moved onto home consoles.

What was the point developing MK9 for PC? Why the hell not Injustice?

I predict Injustice PC coming if MK9 does well.

Well they wouldn't *develop* the game, they would adapt (port) it to the PC architecture. I hope they do a good job and include normal (high) PC resolutions with good general performance, which was one of the pro's of former PC versions of MK.

Why MK9 instead of Injustice? It's an entirely different setting/concept! I want MK! And if it adapts correctly, then sure why the hell not, bring Injustice too. I'm glad I have a PS3 controller for my PC :P

About that... you might have to use an emulation program. If the Arcade Kollection is anything to go by, the game will only support the Xbox controller :/

I use a thing called MotionInJoy or something like that, and you can choose X360 controller emulation. Hope that'll be enough.

I remember the day I first loaded Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands, with the controller attached but without the program. The game actually detected the PS3 controller as a PS3 controller and the in-game tutorial showed me PS3 buttons to press! I secretly hope that happens in MK too. Simply don't remove that portion of the code :P

In the the mean time you can listen to the best theme song in existence. Someone link it, my phone sucks.

Are you talking about the two live action movies? Or is there an animated movie?

I remember watching the TV show MK Konquest. It was actually not bad, the fights were very well choreographed and some of the best I've seen. Much better than the movies. Too bad it ended so abruptly, probably cancelled.

About the live action movies, the first one is much better than the second one. In MK Annihilation they blend MKII and MK3 and just try to throw in as many characters as possible, with the weakest plot and stupidest writing they could come up with.

Yeah, the first movie is good fun. The Conquest series bordered on softcore porn sometimes, but it's generally enjoyable, it does a pretty good job using elements from the film too. The abrupt ending was supposed to be an "it was all a dream" thing, continued in a second season that never happened.

I quite like the Legacy webseries, the second season should be starting soon:

Really? I never noticed. I'm not being sarcastic here. I was 15 or so when I watched it but never saw any "inappropriate" elements, and even my sister watched it with me.

I'm exaggerating a bit, but just a bit. It was even more stripperiffic than the games, most female characters wore very revealing outfits and there was lots of sex going on, sometimes rather uncomfortable too (For example, Quan Chi had undead female servants he coerced into sex by threatening them with reverting them to a zombie-like appearance, stuff like that).

Oh well, sexual references and scantily clad women are just everyday elements :P

What's funny though is that I would play MK on the computer with my parents around and they never complained about it being too sexy :P If anything my sister liked that women fought with men like equals. My dad wasn't a fan of the violence but oh well, it was all fun. My mom also watched the first MK movie and she liked it.

Yeah, my family is weird.

Nah, not a big fan of MK. In fact, I hate fighting games in general. But if they're releasing it for PC then I'm happy for the fans who want it :)

I'm more interested in this little announcement!

That's simply amazing. Let's hope this Komplete Edition is complete indeed (wishful thinking), without 30 other separate dlcs on purchase scattered, like costumes and new players. At last, fatalities on pc screen once again, after 14 whole years!

Sad is, it will be on Steam. Doggone it. If only it could come in GoG, too...

Follow the link:

"It includes all of the DLC released for the console version, including Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain, and Freddy Krueger. There's also 15 classic Mortal Kombat skins and three classic Fatalities for Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile."

This news just made my day. Can someone do a kickstarter for a paper-form magazine that will print all the combos? Like in the good old days? :D
