The Stomping Land is a multiplayer survival game about dinosaurs. Create traps, salvage resources, form tribes, survive.

Here's their kickstarter.

This looks really promising. I hope they get some money to work on this idea :)

Interesting concept albeit a tad silly (what with the pole vault and so on).

This has to be one of the most annoying types of fantasy. They should add some humor or over the top action/acrobatics/whatever if they want any kind of success with such a silly and overused concept.

Yeah I agree. I'd like to think it all looks so boring because it's pre alpha or whatever but still. They need to add a kickass bow, an awesome soundtrack, vibrant lush colours with contrast and a great sense of humour. Watch it sell like hotcakes. Right now it looks too serious and gameplay isn't impressing.

Not interested. Good luck to them though!

EDIT: Damnit! I forgot to mention Turok. That's it. Just wanted to say that :P

The old, old, OLD Turok games were pretty fun to play. I remember being a kid and playing them and loving every second. Mind you, I don't remember that much and I could be blinded by blissful nostalgia.

You mean a prehistoric setting with dinosaurs? How is that overused?

Maybe not overused but I fail to see the potential. And it does seem a bit silly.

Well, the survival aspect (with all this entails, e.g. resource gathering) paired with base building might be interesting. Games like Don’t Starve, Minecraft and Stranded proved that those can be extremely fun and addicting mechanics.

maybe not as much in videogames, but in general. Just think how many movies, shows, etc are loosely based on Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. Given that isn't "prehistoric" but just the same, a massive anachronism.

A truly prehistoric resource gathering strategy game would be fantastic. Humans coexisting with large mammals, anticipating the cold and heat, social management through proto religion, etc.

As far as fiction goes, the coexistence of elves and humans is more believable than the coexistence of dinosaurs and humans. Among other things, the oxigen levels in the atmosphere in the dinosaur geologic ages, affecting their massive growth, would be poisonous to us.

At least Turok has (or had) over the top violence, which made it more fun than serious. I still have my Turok 2 laying around somewhere :P

I think the name is clever.
With that name I guess they plan to put humor on it.

My oh my. This baby here has potential. The enviroment should be quite a bit more lusher and make up for that Dinosaur feeling, but next to that, this has potential. I can already envision hunting in a group, trying to take down a bigger Dinosaur and then, after successfully putting it down, celebrating at the bonefire in the village.

And what else? I mean, this could take 10-15 minutes but what else for the remaining hours of gaming?

Yeah. could be fun for the first hours... but it seems to be fairly repetitive at this stage in production.
