Try using media fire. Also, make sure 'difficult qte's' are disabled in main menu. ›››
Thanks, have it on easy, and QTEs disabled from the beginning. Due to medical issues, I have problems with multi-tasking, and fights like this cause me issues.
I just established a Drop Box account but can't figure out how to link the file. Will keep working at it lol.
Sorry, there's a double reply to your post.

It's Done, just download the file and have fun continuing the story.
You were over burden from your save file so I removed some standard traps and some leather and picked up the kayran loot (granted you became over burden again by that but I let you figure out youself what you want to keep).

As a last resort, here is a link to Nexus, TW2 save files download, one of them right after the kayran fight
http://witcher.nexus...com/mods/289//?
But you can still at least watch the fight on youtube, and try again. Keep Quen always up, and change to Yrden only when you want to set a trap. It took me about an hour on my first playthrough to figure out what I had to do and to nail that sucker, but now, when I know exactly where to roll next, and where to set a trap for the next tentacle, it is like a one minute deal. Good luck.

Man.
I remember the first time I fought the kayran. Died 2-3 times. Thought it was a pretty tough fight. And today, I just defeated Kalameet in Dark Souls. It's interesting that people thought that The Witcher 2 was hard, including myself at first. But DS has given me a whole new perspective on life
Not only when it comes to difficulty, but also how different playstyles can be utilized to defeat the same enemies and how combat design should be implemented to be as engaging as possible.
FromSoft. You're beast. Stay beast.
I hope The Witcher 3 will have a similar difficulty and as polished and refined combat. Although I love TW2s combat, it was a bit eh, as I'm sure many will agree on.
Blah! I'm going of on another one of my tangents
It seems like op is getting some help. Awesome! The kayran can be a bit daunting, I would know! I was scratching my head asking myself "what am I doing wrong!?" when I first fought him
Much luck op, enjoy the rest of the game!

Tearing my hair out, trying to figure out why there aren't any non-human Witchers, or at least something equivalent to a Witcher oriented warrior.

The problem with Kayran is that it is a very unusual, scripted fight. You have to do a certain set of tasks to kill it, and they are not really intuitive. First time I played, I had no idea in was about cutting tentacles, doing some QTE, and then rolling to its head to have a cut-scene. The rest of the bosses in TW2 are not scripted, just do a sufficient amount of damage any way you can, and you are done. With Kayran, whether you play on Dark, or on Easy, is irrelevant, it still can one-shot you without Quen, and the number of tentacles to cut is still the same. That's what makes a first playthrough such a pain in the arse.
In DS it was never scripted. Just find a strategy to nail their arses, which is a challenge in itself, but at least it is not a complete mystery.

I agree. I hope TW3 combat is relatively difficult as well, definitely want a "Darker than Dark mode".
I know the emphasis in these games is on the story, but anyone who will play the most difficult mode wants to do more than just experience the story. Where else are we going to fight like a witcher, or use witcher abilities to overcome/bypass obstacles?
The best thing about reading the news and released info has been that it seems like CDPR is really revamping the combat system to make it more "witchery". It would be really fun to play that style in an difficult setting, I think.

Thank you very much for doing this.
In my game, I run a mod so nothing he carries has any weight. That way I don't have to worry about going over and being encumbered.
I suffer from memory loss, which is also impacting my multi-tasking ability, and I would not be able to complete this fight. Once I'm overwhelmed, it lose the ability to make decisions.
Thanks again Juuuhan, and every one else.

If the Krayan proves too difficult for whatever reason, here's something you can do to get past it.
In your Witcher 2 folder, there should be a directory called cookedPC. Inside cookedPC, there should be a directory named abilities. If it is not there, you can just create it.
Open notepad, and copy and paste the code below in it, and save it as tentadrake.xml
This is the same file the game uses for the krayan, but the damage is highly reduced, so you should breeze through it.

Thank you, I will try this. I just started to play a Mage-based character, so this will come in handy. In most games, I normally have 4-5 different characters I play at the same time. Guess an alchemy-based character is next.
Question, based on what you said, I take it that I should drop that file into the Abilities folder?
Thanks again.

As far as I'm concerned, and I'm talking about a person who has medical problems, if I never see another QTE again, it will be too soon.
You can go into the setup part of the game, and turn QTEs off. But guess what, it doesn't turn them all off. You still get one when firing that ballista thing early in the prologue, and as soon as you get to the town, you have to do two QTEs to save your friends (and it was very confusing if you've never played a game with QTEs before - I mean not knowing what to do with them, etc.)
I don't have a problem with making a game harder, that's what different difficulty levels are for. I'm currently playing at the easy level since this is a completely new (genre) type game for me, and will replay at the normal level, but the other levels, I don't know. I may give dark a shot and see how it goes.
Again, thanks all for the help and advise; it's very nice to find such a helpful community,
