Hi guys! So, I've been making my map for some time now, and since I suck at choosing fonts and deciding on names, I was wondering if someone could improve my map a bit. The map down below is in illustrator. If you have the time and patience, I would very much appreciate if you would fill up some names and choose a better font for the names. Other improvements, such as the legend and other details are welcome, as well. Thanks! :)/>/>

I might help and tweak it a bit, over a long time span though, so if you can give me the file ill get on it.

What time/historical/universe setting it belongs to? thats vital to choose fonts and other things

I don't get it, is this a fantasy world you created? or some fantasy setting we don't know about?

If you're making your own fantasy world just for the sake of it and decided to start by drawing a map I'd say you're over complicating yourself. I suppose a map emerges as a visual representation of names and places referenced in events. A good approach to naming things, I imagine, would be to write mini stories about the different cultures involved. If you decide some are similar to cultures from our earth, then you might draw inspiration from those cultures' language and history.

And if you're going for a typical middle age inspired high fantasy setting I'd change the font to something resembling handwriting.
Facio, Voco, Ferre.

PC does not equal Windows. Personal computers run many different operating systems, like GNU/Linux and, why not, Windows. PC games should be available for all major platforms. Let's not be handcuffed and tied to one vendor. Utilize standard, cross-platform technologies!

It's supposed to be Sci-Fi. I'll upload the file as soon as I can.

Wait. What...?

The title to the thread specifically says "Anyone interested in fixing up my fantasy map?"

Usually fantasy is associated with mediaeval time weaponry, aesthetics, architecture along with some common tropes like elves, magic, monsters and dragons. Now you're saying it's a sci-fi? Or are you saying that it's a fantasy set in a futuristic universe, something similar to what Shadowrun is?

I don't understand what the op wants. It's impossible for me to deduce what his intentions are as he is not at all clear in his presentation. He doesn't take the time to even give us some fucking context. If it's a map used for a story he's creating or if it's a design project for a university course or anything. Crucial details that are necessary to help him are left out and if he doesn't care about his work, then why should I.

I'm out of here. GeGe & gl.

That was a really sweet and kind reply, much better than something like "hey Op i might help if you give me some context or more info."

My mistake, I'll change the title. Swear words are unnecessary. You could have just asked instead. Anyway, I figured it would be too complicated to describe everything here, but I guess some explanation is in order. If you lack the patience to stay for a while and wait until I explain everything, I doubt you'll have the patience to improve the map I'm working on. Thanks for stopping by, though.

I do find it hilarious that someone downvoted me for speaking my mind, IE the truth. The op even changed the title of the thread. Thanks for proving me right. Once again the voting system has been abused. Gj.

Yes, I changed the title. What's the problem? Also, the truth is a deep well.

Yes! I've written the story, but there's so much details I just can't post them here. If you want, contact me and I'll give you the documentation and all the story details.

About the system yeah, downvoting without replying or explaining anything is useless, especially with your comment that was particulary long and said plenty of things.

To be honest im not that interested and if you are a new author very few will also.

Here's a piece of advice. you need a short summarized version of your story to try and catch the readers eye. something that all books have in their back cover. thats used to try and get a reader intrigued in your story. now as a reader i am not intrigued with your world, just annoyed. try to wow me, the reader, to invest five seconds of my time. GO!

You should stay away from Reddit then; the majority of people over there are functionally illiterate, it seems. Their etiquette clearly states that downvotes are NOT meant for content you dislike but for that which breaks the rules (e.g. off-topic, spam, illegal content, advertisement et cetera) and yet you see in that regard perfectly fine posts getting dozens of downvotes simply because people didn’t like it. Madness, I say.

I agree. I think I've also read somewhere on this forum that down-voting is meant for spam posts and such.
