The Witcher 2 Changelist: 1 Has Stopped Working.

So two days ago I decided I would try the Witcher 2 again, so I downloaded my game on steam only to find out that the steam version isn't exactly stable and my game refused to work, I then downloaded my free Gog version of the game only to find this too is having problems.
Everytime I click on "launch game" it's comes up with Changelist: 1 Has Stopped Working" and loads up the launcher again, at first I thought it was because I skipped the file check it does before you install the game so uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it, but it still comes up with the same message "Changelist: 1 Has Stopped Working". Any idea what I should do?

I'm not sure if I am using that right but nothing happens for me, I select where my Witcher 2 folder is, click next and nothing happens it just says that "the application has finished checking your windows registry".

I don't have it on steam anymore I have the gog version, but I have also tried that with the gog version and the same message appears.

It will only do something if you have an error, just like when you run an anti-virus scan.

I uninstalled a few thing like it said on the first link you gave me but it hasn't worked. As for the hotfix I get a error message that says
"unable to execute file: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition\Launcher.exe createProcess failed;code 2. the system cannot find the file specified

I haven`t seen that error before with the hotfix .

basically I'll turn the game on (through the launcher) and when I come out I get the "Changelist: 1 Has Stopped Working" error on the screen.
I'm running Windows 8 64bit, I've got gtx670 with newest drivers... there's nothing unusual running in the background either (dropbox, alienware keyboard drivers, overclocking software, etc...)
can't seem to find anything on the web about this (apart of this forum..)

I've followed the instructions here (and done everything I've documented there, with me being the OP) and the best result I get is the game crashes on start up with the worst result being trying the registry check in post #2 of this thread which resulted in my config settings getting really screwy.
I'd hope someone could help but after doing some googling it seems this isn't a new problem and no one really has a solution. Makes me feel seriously ripped off.

in my case it's only one monitor..
I have kind of accepted the fact that this is happening and that's it.. I love this game, it's great, but it just seem to have sooooo maaaaany bugs it's crazy, for the last 4 years I've been playing on consoles and I have totally forgot how frustrating gaming on a PC could be )
Any way, back to playing Diablo for now..
