Close your eyes and hear. Would love to have that in some games. Imagine this + oculus. ›››

I hope that in The Witcher 3 they will work with sound in a more realistic way than in The Witcher 2, hopefully like in this amazing video
Am I the only one who felt that proper 3D sound was lacking in TW2? I could hear the direction of the sounds there, but, for example, the volume of the NPC conversations seemed to be not changing with the distance, which was breaking immersion.

Yeah, 3D sound is cool. OpenAL supports it: http://kcat.stranges...net/openal.html I wonder if CDPR are using it or not.

That was pretty awesome...and bloody scary as well at one point you almost felt as if the barber was right behind you.

It works by displacing one of the channels a few samples in relation to the other; the tiny delay tricks our brain into placing it in 3d space around us, because that's what they're made to do ^^
Brain: "If the same sound reaches the left ear slightly after it reached the right ear, it must be coming from the right" etc.

Yeah, well for some reason i have never heard as precise stereo as this in videogames, and im playing games for 20 years. ›››
You never knew that monster is in left corridor just based on the sound? You never realized that guys that are talking are behind left door not right door? You never realized that car that you don't see yet is coming towards you?
Here it is just more oblivious because you are static and sounds around you move. In games you are not static. Also such scene like "hair cut" helps to intensify it. In games you can rarely find scenes where someone do something around your one ear.
If you see a grammar mistake in my post, then I don't mind if you send me a notice about it via PM. I always want to improve my English grammar.

Seems like you don't even want to read what other people type.

as precise stereo as this
Notice part "as precise"
3d sound "exist" in videogames, yeah that's true. Could it be way better? Yeah it could.
