Hey everyone!

So I just reinstalled The Witcher 2 on steam. I had to use the official fix to make the game launch. Now I'm having a big problem - the configurator is completely broken.
Every single advanced option is always on the lowest possible setting, no matter what preset I use.

If I change the settings manually, the game will look even worse than the low settings.

If I choose one of the presets the game will run on that preset (even though it always shows up as the lowest settings in the configurator as you can see in the shot above) but I'm still not able to change individual options, because if I do the game looks like that.

I've tried editing the user.ini config file and setting it to "read-only" but it doesn't work, it's as if the game just ignores it.

Windows 7 64bits
Intel i5 750 @ 3.4ghz
16 GB Ram
GTX 670

I changed my graphics card yesterday from an ATI 5850. I was able to edit the configurator with no problems on my previous installation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Damn

It's obvious that your config has no problem. to me it's more like a failure in the installation process.
Idiot Steam is always getting fucked up.
Ban the Steam boys.

The "official fix" you mention , is it the 3.2 hotfix ?
If you have your cd-key then the easiest method would be to claim your backup copy from GOG .

Hi,

Sorry for my poor english, i'm french.

I've got the same problem here (brought on Steam, etc...),
I also can't change the language (i'd like to play in French)...

I also couldn't launch the game until i launched it as admin or by applying the hotfix 3.2...
Well, indeed, i'm experiencing all the problems reported on steam forums and on witcher forums these last few days...
And believe me, i tried everything i saw written on the different topics... Steam cache, re-upload, hot-fix, NET framework re-installation, etc...

Moderator, do you think it would help to send a crash report to the witcher support ?

It seems that everybody with a steam copy experience the same problems.

Any word on this?
I would really like to play this game properly :( I couldn't before on my ATI because of terrible stuttering, now I've bought a brand new GTX 670 and this happens :(

Try opening Steam>Library and right click witcher 2 and select properties . Then in the language tab from the drop down list select French . Steam should then download the French language pack . Then start the game and click options . When the configurator window opens select French from the available voice options .

Hi Tommy,

I tried it yesterday evening, steam downloaded a 876Mb file (which should be french voices/text i guess) but when i launched the game, i wasn't able to apply any voice/text change in the configurator. I had a blank instead of french. Similar to the first screenshot in this topic.
Or maybe i'm dumb, and you mean i can change it directly from the game-running option menu ?

I would assess that it's the same problem as the graphic changes. I think the entire configurator don't work

I was able to solve the graphic configurator issue by editing the user.ini file. Do you know if i can change language settings by editing a similar file ?

Thanks for your help.

There is another solution available . Follow the link and download the French language pack files http://en.thewitcher.com/ee_manual/ When finished downloading click the installer and point it to your witcher 2 installation if it doesn`t do so automatically . If for some reason the installer cannot find your witcher 2 installation then run the registry fix found in this link http://en.thewitcher...support/w2/#q20 . I was able to add all language packs by doing it this way for my Steam version .
