Does anyone recall if dimensions are given for the swords Geralt uses in the books and games? I'm joining the Arma and it would be cool to figure out the type of sword and styles used by the witchers.

As far as I remember there's not given size in the book regarding Geralt's blades (but if someone knows better, please correct me).

I can only tell for the "standard" size on a single handed and a two handed sword, those also pictured in the games:
a single handed sword is commonly around than 110 cm. XVI cen swords (The Musketeers swords for your comprehension) are longer. Viking, roman, celtic and chinese swords are among the shorter of this kind, less than 80 cm commonly. A Renaissance rapier is about 105-115 cm. A medieval single handed (common during XII, XII cen - The Crusades) is around 100 cm. I assume that Geralt's silver sword might be this size, from 100 cm to 105.

A double handed sword is much longer and since there's a great variety of them, it's difficult to give one "standard" size. More or less, two handed swords go from 110-120 to 135-140 cm, bu there are longer (150-160 cm for a Landsknechte). If we assume that Geralt sword is a traditional medieval two handed sword, similar to Braveheart's, his steel sword might be 125-135 cm.

The one sword we have dimensions and a good description for is the Dwarven sihil from Baptism of Fire. I think it likely from the description that it is 40 inches overall length, 12 inches of which are handle, so it has a 28-inch blade. That would be small for a longsword, but would make it a very fast weapon. It could alternatively be read that it has a 40-inch blade, which would be a good-sized claymore, but that would be a damned big sword for a dwarf.

Interestingly, it is described as not having a crossguard; instead it had a brass flange, perhaps after the style of a Japanese sword.

Speaking of sword's size . . . I wonder if REDs manage to implement that in TW3.
say for example size and weight effect attack speed and attack range, restrict/allow some moves and so on.

I got a two handed sword, which is 126 cm long and dates back to the early 15th century. This is a longer version of a typical long sword, used primarily against cavalry and to thrust with. It's very hard to do moves like witchers do because of it's weight and length. The tip of the sword often touch the ground when trying to spin around, so Geralts sword should be something between 100-110 cm, which is the typical length of a late medieval long sword used especially in duels and fights when not in a war surrounded by soldiers.

Note, that Geralt's "regular" sword while long was lighter than usual, since it was from meteorite metal. So it allowed more agile manipulation than a regular steel sword of the same size. Geralt's opponents even called it a "razor" for its lightness.

Well, the replicas made for the REDkit Betatesters are 125cm long. So that at least is CDPR's idea of the swords' size. Concerning type and style: The size indicates the classic two handed long sword. Geralt's style is mostly made up and supposed to be cinematic eyecandy. For real-life, you'll typically learn techniques based on Liechtenauer - reconstructed from Fechthandschriften by Peter von Danzig, Hans Talhoffer, etc.

yeah, most of the things Geralt does in the games are just made to look good. all the twirling and wide sweeping blows would just get you killed in real life. The books seem decently accurate though, such as teaching ciri to strike with the tip of the sword, versus hacking with the middle.
