I just bought The Witcher 2 from steam, and when I started playing it was terribly laggy, I tried setting it to low spec, and tried setting the resolution much lower, but it was still rather bad(Better at least).

When I do auto detect best settings it detects High Spec, yet when I start the game it's very laggy(Not a very effective auto detect, is it)

Any help is appreciated, I just want to run the game at decent fps(without it looking ugly either).

My Specs:
OS: Windows 8 x64
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6750 (1GB)
RAM: 8GB 1333MHz
CPU: Intel Core i3 500 @ 3.2GHz (Dual Core w/ Hyper-threading)
Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050

Note: I can play Oblivion at a constant 60fps with no problems at all.

I'm thinking the game doesn't like my graphics card, or it's not setup correctly.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me to get the game working well.

No the auto detect isn`t very reliable . The first thing to do with Steam games when giving trouble is to run a game cache integrity check .
Your card is a little under recommended specs but should be able to play the game adequately with decent FPS .
Set texture downscaling to none
Disable Antialiasing , Ubersampling , Cinematic depth of field , Dangling Objects Limit and Vertical Vsync and set to medium spec .
The cinematics seem to play best when set to 16:9 but by doing so you will get a small black bar at the top and bottom of your screen .

Does this happen only when you are moving? It was the same with me. Apparently it's strangely caused by the mouse-sensetivity.

This fix from the second post sorted me out:

6750 is a rebadged 5750. It's well above the stated minimum, but it would probably be better at a reduced resolution like 1280x800. Or medium spec at full resolution.

Thanks, Steam said 1 file failed to verify, then I changed all the settings you said and now It's reasonable.
