What is it with the Igni particle effect? Playing as a Sign focused Geralt for the first time has revealed an ugly side of my game. As Igni's been powered up its chewing up both my enemies and my FPS. This is on an i5 2500k @4.5ghz, and a GTX 680 2gb.
I'm cruising at 60fps V-synced with Ultra settings at 1920x1200 (minus Ubersampling naturally) and I get into a brawl releasing several AoE Igni blasts and tanking my FPS into the mid-40's while the effects play. This drop is very noticeable when whiplashed from 60. Turning on Triple Buffering via D3DOverrider helps, but not much.
For the sake of experimentation I dropped settings to low-spec, and turned off V-Sync. Now I'm at 100+fps, but start lighting up some enemies and it nose dives into the 40's again.
Is this some kind of fill-rate problem? Anyone run into something similar and find a solution?
