Both things are except for damage potions and armor resistance like poison resistance total useless? I really would like to see a health potion like it was in the first game. The first weak healt potion is this weak that I cant noticed it at all when I consume it and the second is the armor value, also a thing what I don't notice. I die anyway with 4 hits no matter what armor I wear.So for what the heck are those things? Just a fancy thing? And yah I play with the Darkmode and I am right now in the last act thx to the jumping and rolling on the floor Witcher.

The thing with combat in W2 is that you need to find a way to fight which minimizes the chances of getting hit. A player could be wearing a Dark Outfit to boot, but will die regardless if they are an ineffective fighter. Before entering a battle, try to strategize what you want to do, and if you die, work out where you went wrong.

Regarding the vitality regen potion- it may seem like it's not working, but it's just that you're losing HP a lot faster. I like this system because it's realistic, and adds a fair amount of challenge to the game.

So in conclusion, the vitality regen potion and armor don't matter as much as your fighting technique. It might help to consider how you went wrong after dying.

If you're dying too much then perhaps Dark Mode wasn't the best option to start with.

Geralt receives 200% damage when attacked from behind, which can be reduced to 100% with a talent from the swordsman tree. Still, you will die fairly often and easily if you get surrounded. That's how it should be. Noone can possibly survive a sword stab to the chest, even less multiple stabs :P

About "health" potions, I suppose you mean Swallow. Swallow, as the in-game description says, increases vitality regeneration. It is not an instant healing potion, like White Raffard's Decoction.

You can increase your damage resistance by using better armor and by unlocking certain talents. You can also protect yourself with the sign Quen. Additionally, you can avoid being hit :)

First question to you , do you read what I write? Ya I mean the Swallow but I don't noticed health regeneration like I say it looks like it only get my toxic level up and nothing else. Look at the first Witcher there was the potion working right. Sure it must be weak but I cant notice the potion at all and thats without a combat situation.
Realistic would be dead with one good hit and no potion could help you but otherwise it would be also real that you could insta kill any human/elf/dwarf and maybe some monsters.
The other thing is it is not about the Mode. When it was this Hard I would quit the game but I am in the last Act so ? I know that I can reduce the damage from behind but thats a talent what I think it is a waste because you are dead anyway when you don't learn to roll over the ground all the time.

I can just walk naked and the only thing what is different is that I don't have resistance in magic, bleeding etc. Dead also with 3-4 hits.
What I say is that both things are just no use in this mode, I don't know how it is for the other modes.

Did you read what your responders wrote? They gave you good answers.

Swallow does regenerate Vitality. It regenerates it at 1 point per second. In Dark mode, many seemingly weak enemies will hit you for 100 points or more at a blow, especially if you did not take talents in Position to avoid backstab damage. (Yes, that is by design.)

To make Swallow effective, you must disengage from melee and keep from being hit while you regenerate, because it may take you as much as a minute real time to recover from a heavy blow that you should have avoided. In almost all places of combat in this game, there are ways to do so.

You are right in that Vitality, Vitality regeneration, and armor are not that useful in Dark mode. In Dark mode, most enemies can kill you quickly. You must do unto them before they do you. This means using the best offensive weapons and tactics at your disposal and entering combat carefully and tactically with the intent of not getting killed.

Damn right! Don't listen to these people telling you to strategise and optimise, you go in there bare chested, with an axe in your hands, and nothing coursing through your veins but honest god damn blood. You tear into the enemy, you kick him in the arse, you grab him by the hair, you break his god damn spine and spit upon his twitching corpse.

Armour, armours for the god damn coward. Potions, the only potions I need are the sweat off my brow, the spittle frothing in my mouth and the drool rolling down my chin. I beat the bastards black and blue, I make them scream until their throats are hoarse and then I burn 'em alive with Igni.

And you know what son? I love that smell...that burned flesh smell rising from their corpses. It smells like triumph.

Someday you know...there's going to be no more monsters left to slaughter.

Yeah, pretty much! But then in the evenings he sits down at the bar, downs a keg of beer, eats a whole cow, and writes poetry.

Yah right I finished the game without armor, just with the Swords. I think the Armor would be helped me much for the Dragon thing.
Next time I play this I just buy mighty Swords or the schematics for it.
