You can use a critical attack to disable a vampire's poisoning attack, hitting the organ responsible for it's regeneration and even instakill them by piercing BOTH their hearts simultaneously.

Quote from gameinformer.

I was thinking about it and have an idea. When Geralt have full stamina and your enemy is beat down enough, after some attack you get prompt to execute finishing move. To execute it you click button and then camera focus on enemy, time slow down, crosshair appear and you need to aim at enemy's weak spot. You have brief moment for that, for example 1 second in the first level and with maxed out critical strikes you have 3 seconds. All creatures have different weak spots and you never get any hint where to strike, you need remember that from glossary or books. After executing it, We get something like finishing moves from witcher 1, all stamina is lost whenever you succeed or fail.

What do you guys think?

Love it. Great idea, reminds me of what MGR Revengeance is doing with the zandatsu (?) mechanic. Where you enter slow mo, slice a guy and steal his data/mechanical shit. So yeah, I'm down with that. Player autonomy ftw!
Tearing my hair out, trying to figure out why there aren't any non-human Witchers, or at least something equivalent to a Witcher oriented warrior.

I disagree with getting a finishing move like the witcher 1, it would ruin combat momentum and wouldnt make sense, as all long cinematic finishing moves dont make sense in all games where you can fight more than one enemy at once.

For me, the animation should be like an assassins creed counter/finishing move, as fast, simple, and efficient as possible.

Actually since there are many weak spots and you can choose wich one you want, there wouldnt be one whole animation, it'd be a combination of every strike you get to make i suppose.

Other than that i like the idea, its a little too complicated when we have so little info about how combat works in detail, but i see no reason why it wouldnt work well.

Since when the camera slows down the enemy might be performing an attack or some animation that makes you not be able to see the vital point you want to strike, i'd say that when you click, starting the whole thing, Geralt shoud make one of several stunning moves to make sure the enemy remains in a good position where you can see easily the possible critical points.
