Can't launch the game
15.02.2013 @ 22:15 #1
Hey folks, I recently purchased TW2:EE and cannot get it to run.
One of two things happens. Either:
1. I get kicked back to the Launcher
or
2. The wolf head logo disappears and nothing happens
I've tried:
Installing through Steam
Installing through GOG
Installing as Admin
Running as Admin
Running on lowest graphics settings
Running on windowed/full screen
Running the Registry patch
Manually installing .NET 4 Framework
Updating RADEON drivers
Antivirus is NOD32, which shouldn't cause conflict
How do I get this game to run? I currently have the GOG version installed (as admin), in case it was Steam that was causing the problem.
Thanks.

The launcher is sometimes a problem. The first thing to try is starting directly from witcher2.exe. This should be in your GOG.com\The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition\bin folder.
If that works, then you can re-do your desktop shortcut to the game so that it points to witcher2.exe and not Launcher.exe.

Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.
I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.
I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

Hi Corylea, thanks for the reply. I tried launching through the witcher2.exe, but had no better luck. A window appears for a brief moment, as though the game is about to launch, but then vanishes.

It`s possible there are some conflicting software on your computer . Try this link for some of the known software issues and witcher 2 .

ok . Make sure that your firewall isn`t blocking the game from starting . Another would be to add an exception for Witcher 2 in Nod32 .
Additionally you can take some screenshots of all your installed programs and email them to me .

Thanks for the reply. I disabled Nod32 and Windows Firewall entirely and try to load the game; same problem. I'll email you a list of installed programs.

OK let`s try some MD5 numbers just to be sure that you have a full and working GOG version . How to run and check can be found in the first part of this link .
http://en.thewitcher...-md5-checksums/ .
If you go to where you downloaded the GOG version if you hover your mouse over any of the files there should be a popup dialog box and in it there will be a version number . The latest version is 3.0.1.17 and here are the MD5 numbers for each of the files
