Hey All!

I am wondering where CD projekt RED is taking their next game. When I first began playing The Witcher, it was on my younger brothers encouragement. I did however find Geralt of Rivia a little goofy in that game (Also the non enhanced edition), but the concept started to grow on me. Since the game was so incredibly long, i ran out of steam during my first playthrough in the swamp ch 2, but took it up half a year later and have completed it twice now.

In the Witcher 2, the concept and Geralt's looks and style had been refined, so he started to be more believeable and I enjoyed playing as that character in that game. Still do.

Now with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt being the last of the witcher Geralt games, how will our characters be defined after this game. I for one love character creation including the possibility to create your personal avatar customizing class, gender, skills, looks and starting gear. Actually for me this is THE defining trait of the Genre genre along with a good engaging story. Not elves, dwarfs, swords or in the case of SCI-FI weird guns, AI and such.

As CDPR have already stated that the game after TW3 will be Cyberpunk 2077 what will the character options be in this game and what are you guys looking forward to or have fears about? In the original CP 2020 the classes were these just to tell people who doesn't know the IP:

SOLO
FIXER
COP
CORPORATE
NETRUNNER
TECHIE
NOMAD
ROCKERBOY
MEDIA
TECHIE

So guys what are your thoughts on what will happen next and what are your wishes for the next game concerning character creation and story looking beyond TW3?

Well, we know that Cyberpunk 2077 is supposed to have character customization since that has been announced by CDPR. As for the classes, I seem to remember that they also said they wouldn’t incorporate all of them (since some just don’t fit the type of gameplay this game is going for).

We definitely won't have any Mass Effect (and the like) type of character customization. We'll have haircuts though.

I can certainly seem why some of the classes may be too Roleplaying, and too little action for a computer game. Media, Rockerboy and Corporate springing to mind. However omitting the netrunner would be a sin to the Cyberpunk universe.

I am wondering about whether they will be able to come up with a compelling story and how the character will be, since the mute character often associated with RPG's with character customization is a let down on the story perspektive. If we are going to be pigeonholed into the role of the girl from the teaser i would be severely let down.

What kind of customization do you imply we will have then. More or less?

Oops, I misread the last question, what I said concerns TW3.

We don't know much about Cyberpunk 2077, but it will probably have extensive character creation and customization that will be in the hands of the player.

What I e.g. would like to know, is whether they have plans to introduce a talkie character, or if it will be a mute one as in most RPG's with multiple character choice like Skyrim DA:O. I for one would much rather have that for instance there is one male and one female voice regardsless of class race etc. (I know there are only humans in cyberpunk, but even our races sound different. You can for example clearly hear Isaac Hayes is black).

Character creation is nice possibility in game but it's not the most important thing.

I certainly hope not.

As for Cyberpunk since we know it will have character customization. I hope we have a set name and set gender.

I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to change your character's gender.

This is just me typing whats in my head, but I really miss playing Dungeon Siege I & II. I want to have a party base, hack and slash, loot rpg. DS3 didn't appeal to me in the sense that they cut my party to 2 and the skill and equipment system was over simplified. I want to feel like I'm playing Final Fantasy without the over world, exactly like DS.

I hope CDPR gives this genre a chance. That's just a dream for now that they're focus on TW3 and Cyberpunk....

Cyberpunk should have CC imo, i doubt they will make established character for you to play.

But i don't want anything in Witcher 3. The only thing that should be made available is different hair styles, beard (considering we saw Geralt having one in the pics.) and maybe tattoos.
I still wonder if Geralt can keep his Blue Stripes tattoo on his neck. If we didn't decide to remove it.

Making a game with a good story is always harder when you are not in control of who the principal character will be. Sometimes this has been helped with the main char being a mute, its very immersion breaking IMO.

Thats why I look forward to hearing how CDPR will have their take on this. And I would be severely disappointed CP2077 will have a set char like in the witcher or mass effect games.

And guns!!!! we need guns. Thats the bad thing about witcher. No guns...

because that requires a very half assed face generation system that produces half melted wax figures.

Mass Effect doesn't have a set protagonist.

I hope not. CDPR developers have shown themselves to be able to make far better looking characters than I've ever seen in any game that has "CYOC" mechanics.

I want a set character and improved choice and consequence. I'll take that over some generic face I could create.
