Error: d3dx9_39.dll not found & fix for it
10.02.2013 @ 01:07 #1
I downloaded Witcher2 enhanced edition from gog.com. When I tried to start it, I kept getting a error "d3dx9_39.dll not found" I re-installed it, still got the error. I did some searching on this
forum and found that d3dx9_39.dll is a DirectX file. I downloaded the update from Microsoft for DirectX 11 which also had upgrades for Directx 9 and 10 with it. Problem solved. My computer started with DirectX 11 and I would say, judging from the filename, that this is a DirectX 9 file. I hope this helps anyone who has a similar problem.

This should be the latest DirectX .
http://www.microsoft...91-50ceb6d8fa8d .
Instructions should be to download and unzip to a folder of your choosing . Then open the folder and run the setup exe .

Go to google and type d3dx9_39.dll download . A website will appear named "dll-files.com" . Download this file from there either directly or via dll fixer . Make sure you have latest DirectX 9 as well . Should be fixed now . ›››
No, no, never!
Get Microsoft DLLs that come as an integrated package from Microsoft. Only. Nobody warrants that the files on dll-files are not virus-infested tickets to DLL Hell. For more detail, read http://pcsupport.abo...ll-download.htm

Long time TES modder. When the tools are released, hopefully, a TW2 modder.

Download the zip file and unzip it. Now, if you're on Windows 64-bit you want to copy the .dll file to the "SYSWOW64" folder in your main drive. If you're on Windows 32-bit copy it to the "System32" folder.
The folders are typically found in C:\Windows\

I followed the guide about.com, but I did not get results.
I tried to reinstall the game in the boxed version and that of gog.com, but always appears the same error.
I use Windows 8 64-bit. May not be compatible with the game?
Thank you all for the help

The file is generic web-update of Microsoft Directx. Unfortunately not correct.

The game plays correctly on Windows 8 64-bit. I have installed and run it on four different Windows 8 installations, including the beta, customer preview, Home Premium, and Professional editions.
That is the only up-to-date and valid version of DirectX 9.0c there is. You cannot obtain a valid copy of that DLL in any other way. If installing it as instructed does not solve the problem you are having, the problem is something quite different. But nobody can provide you much in the way of assistance unless you can confirm that you did install that update to DirectX, it did not solve your problem, and you post the exact error (screen shot if possible) that you are seeing.
