TW3 will NOT be the last witcher game, clarified
08.02.2013 @ 08:24 #1
Praise the heavens, lords and CDP
While TW3 will be the last game with Geralt as the protagonist, it will not be the last witcher game.
Clarified by CDP themselves here is the article in latest news. So no more speculation.
So rejoice! Who is already waiting to throw their money for Ciri to be our next hero? *ME! ME!*

It's like 3rd topic about it. T_T
I don't wanna play as Ciri. It's an interesting character, but with her personality, she wouldn't be a great protagonist.

This, basically. As it is, I'm starting to get unwelcome BioWare vibes. ›››
It depends. If they would make in the same world but entirely different it would be still great. For example game where you play as a mage, or Nilfgaardian officer, or as Sco'iatel (game where you play as bard would be great too, but I guess that it would be too obscure).
And you can't say that it has BioWare vibes. BioWare never released more than 3 games in the series. They are making another ME, but it's not released yet and we know nothing about it. You can say that it has Bethesda vibes - it would be more accurate.

Mah, sooner or later the franchise is bound to jump the shark, that's how it usually goes. New generations of newcomers will get to know the series from newer games and won't care about the original trilogy, members of the developer team will change, times will change, priorities will change, gaming as a whole will change... That's life

I agree with Aver , that Ciri wouldn't be good protagonist for a game with C&C , she has very strong and defined personality. Same goes for most characters in Witcher universe (including Geralt) , memory loss made it possible to reshape his personality a bit.
Also i am glad they will make more games in Witcher world , while i am relieved they will put Geralt to well deserved rest.

I mostly don't want her as protagonist because she is often annoying. It's entertaining when you read books, but if she would be protagonist then it could be just annoying.

Heh i agree that she was annoying especially in the first books , but what can you expect from a teenage girl drawn into such events. In Lady of the Lake she really starts to mature , little by little.
Considering how much time has passed since the end of the books ,with such extraordinary abilities she possess and enemies she has to fight. I am quite sure we will see a quite matured and wise version of Ciri in the game. Actually its pretty scary to think how powerful she will be.

Unless she spent this whole time in Camelot

If I'm to choose a new defined protagonist to play for then my choice is definitely Dandelion. Such game should consists of:
- Spying, sneaking, infiltrating, political games (as a pawn)
- Having fun: drinking, music, poetry, girls, friends
- Philosophical conversations with educated NPCs
- Careless pursuit of women for sport
- Getting into trouble
- No fighting skills and no magic at all
It can be a glorious RPG. I always dreamed of some high quality non-combat RPG.

EXACTLY!
That piece with succubus in Vergen, when you control Dandelion and choose not to call Geralt but go into the trap door into the monster layer is exactly how I see such game play. It was one of my favorite parts of the game.

I have seen way to many unique games that failed. And if you want sex to be one of the main features than we have nothing to talk about.
