How does everyone feel about Geralt's new design? Obviously the beard isn't the problem they're always awesome. We've talked about the news thread but I wanted to discuss it in detail.

Personally I find the silhouette kind of boring and rather thief and ninja like since it's so skin tight. Maybe it's supposed to tell us that he's an agile fighter which is fine but it's a bit too much imo.

We also lost Geralts cool thick scabbard belt with pouch thing with a strap and a small itty bitty pouch on his left (our right).

Well some people might say that's just the default armor and we'll get new ones later on which is right but this design might be on the poster.

It just doesn't scream Witcher to me.

looks in this picture though

this is just an early presentation i think .. they will probably add more details to that armor im sure

Geralt's appearance is fine. I don't like the armour, but that's just personal taste, I prefer leather :)

But the armour doesn't worry me too much It isn't froofy, and there'll be enough choices in game.

The bearded Geralt as it may appear in TW3 on the right picture looks like a sketch, maybe one of the first sketches even of Geralt with this armor and his beard. So I don't think we can judge based on that one picture we have of Geralt, whereas I agree with you that the armor doesn't look spectacularly great on that picture I do think it looks quite cool on this one:

Assuming of course that it's the same armor.
I really like the mail parts with a leather frame, definitely one of the armors I'd see Geralt wearing since it protects better than leather yet not as flexible, though is not as heavy as plate armor.
I think we must wait for some in-game screenshots from Geralt before we can judge on his silhouette, silhouettes and appearances are rarely messed up by developers so I don't think CDPR makes that mistake. :)

that's why I posted that one picture of him all rendered out and in 3D in the end to remain unbiased.

I wanna address this.

How are we going to store items in that little pouch. Well all our items are on the horse now but what about our alchemy ingredients. Will we only be able to do alchemy near the horse?

I think this was supposed to be Geralts pouch/pack unfolded in W2 (which I really wanted to see an animation of).

Will we only be able to do alchemy near our horse? like in 52 and a half. If so I don't really have a problem with that but if not we'll need a pouch/fannypack thing instead of just a coin pouch.

I'm not a fan, for the same reason as Dragonbird - I prefer leather over chainmail. But if they are trying to make Geralt more agile again, it makes sense to take the big leather belt off his chest (no matter how good it looked).

Uuuh, that would be a very neat feature! To use our leather pouch for potions and other stuffs, just like in 52 and a Half. Me like!

It would be definitely cool if he would use his alchemy set to brew potions.

Armor design was by far one of the strongest points in TW2 and something where CDPR at the moment is simply unmatched.
I seriously hope they aren't going to "regress" in that sense.

Horribly. I side with Dona and dragonbird.

Historycally speaking it's a botch. W2 version was more accurate.

Okay what I have to say is that the aesthetics in The Witcher 2 were bar none in terms of realism and authenticity. Besides it being my favourite game of all time, just seeing Geralt in his highly textural leather outfit just screamed out 'Yeah this guy slays monsters like a baws, I wish that I could be him'. Putting Geralt in chain-mail is a little bit banal and it makes him seem more like a knight than a Witcher (although I'm sure that they could pull it off given their time and artistry:)). I hope that the faces we saw in the second game remain the same too because the way characters like Triss and Geralt were designed... just wow. I can't imaging them to be any different than they are now (Obviously the newer engine will provide us with even more convincing models but the point is, don't stray too far from what we've attached and familiarized ourselves with!). I'm also a huge Crysis fan but the guys at Crytek deviated from the plot and did funny things with some of the character models and it just failed. It pains me to admit that I find the series far less attractive now as a result. Fret not, however, good people for our Custodians at CD Projekt Red know what they're doing. We could find ourselves in better hands!

I like it.

In my opinion, it's the perfect combination of chain mail and leather frames, which gives Geralt both protection and mobility. I also like how the armor is rather simplistic and not overly exaggerated with unnecessary details. Though a larger pouch or a bag would be a nice addition for Geralt to stock his inventory in.

Like it. Unpopular opinion I know. Yesterday someone posted pictures with one of the armors, and they looked fantastic-well to me. The Witcher 2 armors, well the amount of them anoyed me, the Witchers armor is something special, something that shuldn't be easily obtainable.

This being a game, I considered some of them Lore breaking, particullary the availability of them, but it seemed logical becuse there was a demand for more armors.
Until Dark Mode, I spent most of my time wearing Raven's.
They where simply to colorful, beutifull but to colorfull and even somewhat bulki.
Edit:
This one I simply love it:

Would love however, the swords having crossed on Geralt's back.

yeah I found it rather immersion breaking too the Leather Armor in the poster of W2 was made by some poor dude in Lobinden. I mean it'd be cool if that dude had penchant for fashion and functionality but he seemed like he didn't

You shouldn't be able to get the main piece of armor lying around everywhere it should be crafted by an expert and Geralt should have a conversation with him/her on how witcher armor is different from other armor.

Geralt could get minor stuff lying around though like gloves, boots, hoods and pants.

I think that there will be a lot of leather armors too. After all in TW2 there are armors with chainmail elements too.

One thing I've learned over the years of following The Witcher series is that the concept art + trailers + screenshots and etc before the release NEVER actually show the real Geralt in the game =D
It's true story as in The Witcher 1/2 =)
If I didn't know that I'll be panicked a little because Geralt looks rly different
