Where is the King of the Wild Hunt in TW1 prologue?

07.02.2013 @ 07:10 #1

This is a pretty pointless question, but it's been bugging me for a while now. And I wondered whether or not to put it in the "plot" section, but it's not really plot related.

In the Witcher wiki, it states that you first see the King of the Wild Hunt during the prologue of the first Witcher game. However, I kept a keen eye out and didn't spot him (or the Wild Hunt) anywhere. It's odd, considering how other characters nonchalantly mention the Wild Hunt after Geralt wakes, and he even address the King in a familiar fashion later on in the game.

Did I miss him in some quick shot? Was he way off in the background hidden or something? Or is this "glimpse" we get of him referring to the magic storm that we see at the start of both games (as Geralt is running panicked through the forest)?

Thanks.

It's implied the Hunt is chasing Geralt as he's running through the forest, but we don't get to see it. That's all. It would have probably been hard to make the Hunt seem as menacing as it should be in that particular scene if they did show it.

The Wiki seems to be loosely written on that point.

I believe this is correct:
"During the Prologue, Lambert may say that the Wild Hunt was present when Eskel and Vesemir found Geralt, and that Triss urged them to drive the specters away."

But this is somewhat misleading:
"We first get a glimpse of the King and his minions near Kaer Morhen in the Prologue."

Maybe the witchers did, but you as the player do not.

Wow, thanks for the expedient replies! This seems to be a pretty dedicated community.

I've only recently gotten hooked on The Witcher -- thanks to the games. I've recently ordered the books, and I plan on steeping myself in as much of the lore as possible. So, little details like these get to me.

I'm hoping the third game really hashes out this whole Wild Hunt business, because it was considerably sparse in TW1, and was only mentioned in spurts in TW2.

WTH!? I had no idea this was even a quest in TW1. Sounds like it should have been part of the main plot.

Oh well, i catch it on my upcoming playthrough

Seeing as the game is called "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt", i think it's safe to assume that it'll be very prominent.

This reminds me of the first time I played the game. He's mentioned in the Prologue but you don't see him, and you can quite easily miss the quest in Chapter 1, so when he turns up at the end of the game it seems a little bit random.

I know the Wild Hunt is mentioned a little bit through the game, and there is one quest in another chapter which is related, but that's one thing that always bugged me :)

It is

It's somewhat wrong. Someone probably mixed W2 intro trailer with W1. In fact, that intro linked the events before Geralt wakes up in Triss' tent but there's no trace of the spectres in W1.

Yep, in the crypt under the local church. Weird conversation first time I played.

I know right, didn't see it on my first playthrough which sucks. It seems like a significant part of the story.

As someone's already mentioned, you meet the King during a quest in Chapter 1. Pretty cool meeting. Interesting conversation is held by Geralt and the regal spectre.
Tearing my hair out, trying to figure out why there aren't any non-human Witchers, or at least something equivalent to a Witcher oriented warrior.
