Hi, everyone.
First time in this forum, and I would need some advice regarding my PC specs. I have already played The Witcher 2 in Xbox 360, but I found the story so compelling that I wanted to experience the first one, and carry over the decisions made to the next installment. I looked up the requeriments online before buying it, and it seemed like my PC covered the recomended requisites.
But when I started it, I found that low graphics were my only option available, and even then, the game run far from smoothly.
This is my PC specs, by the way:
Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10 GHz (CPUs)
RAM memory: 8192MB RAM
Video Card: NVIDIA Geforce GT 440 - 4047MB
I also use a my TV LCD 32", as my computer screen, so lowering the resolution isn't really an option.
I don't know if there's another factor relevant to the game running so poorly, but if there is, I would love to know what part of my hardware will I need to be upgrading in the future.
I apologize If I mispelled something (english is not my first language), and thanks to anyone willing to reply.
Much appreciated.

The GT 440 is a miserable card for this game. It's hard to tell from the crap that salesmen feed you, but it's maybe a quarter of the minimum requirement. Everything else is fine, but you are probably not going to get good performance except by dialing the resolution down to 1280x720.

You're right, the guy who sold it to me, told me that I should have no problem running the game. I guess he got his way.
Nevertheless, I was thinking about buying another type of video card. I had in mind an Amd Radeon Hd 6450 1gb Ddr3.
Do you think that type of card would support it? And if not, what would you recommend?.
Thanks again for the quick reply!.

A 6450 would be no better, probably worse. This game is very demanding of video cards, and cards that can handle many other games decently will fall on their coolers with this one. Not everybody knows that, and this results in a lot of "he told me it would run the game fine" situations.
In modern cards, the bare minimum for this game would be an AMD 5570 or 6570.
The nVidia GTS 450 and AMD 5670 or 6670 are about the minimum where the game plays well on low to medium settings.
Cards superior to those (nVidia GTS 460, 550Ti, 650, and up; AMD 5770, 6770, 7770, and up) will play the game very well.
