So story goes like this.

I bought Witcher 1 when it came out 2007 or 2008 not sure.
Moved to another house, lost the key in process, had only game files.
Contacted support then, they sent me a new key to my e-mail.
I installed the game again, registered it, played and passed it.

So few years passed, and key that was in my e-mail was long forgotten, due college and personal activity of that inbox. Possibly deleted e-mail as well.

So, it it possible to somehow get ahold of that key? I would love to play Witcher again as I cannot afford Witcher 2 at the moment.
Who should I contact?
Is it even possible to get it (my account should show somewhere that I had registered copy)?

Thanks in advance!

You don't need the key, just apply the patch and play.

Okay, but I would still like to get ahold of that key if that's possible, so I can add the game to Steam and get rid of physical game files so I dont have to look for them anymore.

I don't think you can use your retail key to activate it on Steam. That's only possible with very few games and I don't think The Witcher is one of them.

You can receive a backup copy from gog.com though ( http://www.gog.com/witcher2/backup ). For receiving your key, I don't think there's any other way than either contacting support again or searching your e-mail inbox. If you've still installed the game, there's a chance you can find the serial key in the registry as well - not sure if that's the case for TW, though.

I sent email to one of the techies here, hopefully he can get me the key again. Even gog backup would be fine, just so I know I can download files from someplace safe anytime I want.

I recently got a new redeem code for my back up copy, so it should be fine if you make a photo of your retail copy to verify you purchased the game.

Additional info and where you can get a new key:

The Witcher 1 doesn't require registration anymore so you don't really need the key. Also, you can contact support via witcherbackup (attaching pictures of your box/game would be a good idea) . Just use the Daywalker30 link.

Also as has been mentioned you can`t activate it on Steam .
