First: Sry for my bad english or mistakes ;)/>

I bought the Witcher 2 EE via Steam during Wintersale and i´m trying to play it with german language/textes.
But it isnt possible.
As soon as i set the ingame text to german via launcher, the game keep crashing and crashing and crashing...randomly. Sometimes after 3 houres, sometimes after 1 minute. It happens when i open the inventory, characteristics, meditate, door, when i´m looting corpses/crates/chest whatever. Theres nothing specific. It´s random.
I have a crash to desktop wthout any error message or entry in the windows event log. Nothing.
But when i set the text to english, the game works fine...no crashes after houres of playing. so it can´t be a performance problem with my system specs.
I tried everything written in forum or from the faqs.
You can see my english suck a bit so i wanna play it in german because there is a lot of text ingame ;)/>
I wrote an email to your support 2 weeks ago without and i´m still waiting for an answer.

I´m not alone with this problem as you can see here:
http://steamcommunit...25849320007074/
or here
http://forum.worldof...-Desktop/page10
There are enough german players with this problem.

The Dxdiag is attached.

Hope for a solution for this problem, because i and many more wanna play this awesome game, but we can´t :D/>

OK . I assume you`ve done a file integrity check. If not try that.
Also I noticed your Realtek audio drivers are out of date . Try updating those
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

As another resort follow the link and scroll down to where you see the language pack files and download and reinstall the German files. The installer will automatically find your witcher 2 installation. http://en.thewitcher.com/ee_manual/

I don`t know what the error says. Sorry. But i`ll generate some MD5 numbers for the language fles so that you can check to see if they are complete.

All Files verified and complete.

The error says something like this:

you must specify a full path to a drive-letter, for example:
c:\example
or unc-path in this form:
\\server\freigabe (sharedfolder?)

Strange. Are you running the patch as administrator ? Is your game installed on the C drive ?

Is using a language pack patcher even the right approach for the Steam version of the game? Usually, for multilingual games in Steam, you have the option to right-click the game in your Steam library and go -> properties -> language, choose the desired language from a drop-down menu and Steam will automatically download and install the required files. Don't know though, if TW2 offers that option.

Yep, i tried it via admin. didnt work.
Witcher2 is installed on drive D:\
i copied the 5 files to D-Drive and into the witcher folder. Didnt work.

I dont know, i think theres a problem with the german files on steam. I also reinstalled the game with english language, changed them into german so they were installed after that. Crashed.
But when i set the ingame text (only text, not speech) to english, the game works fine.

Someone on the steam forums said, that he has deinstalled the game and downloaded a copy from here http://www.thewitcher.com/backup/ now he can play in german without crashes.

edit:
testet the game with the new sound drivers = still crashing

Yes it offers to download additional Steam languages that way but you don`t get the option to redownload the same language file you installed it with
The option of downloading the language files from here works. I did it with my Steam version of the game and it works fine.

Being that it says that you need to specify a path leads me to believe that the game is missing some registry keys.

@ myse124 follow the link and download the registry fix and run it being sure to point it to your witcher 2 installation . Then try repatching with the language files.

Hooray the fix did it. \o/
Language pack is finally "re"installed.
Now i have to test the game tonight or tomorrow.

Running around in flotsam, opening doors and such stuff will do it.
A few houres ago i was just standing around in flotsam and had to go afk, so i switched via alt+tab to desktop. 5 minutes later i returned and the game was closed by itself o_O

So...the reinstall of the files didnt fix it.

Same random crashes as before.
I was just selling some herbs to a vendor...*bäm*...desktop.
What next?

I didnt need to fix the registry by myself. the steam version fix ( posted by tommy: http://en.thewitcher...support/w2/#q20) did it and set it to "language = de".

Well I was hoping. Have you added an exception to your antivirus program for the Witcher 2. Just in case that realtime scanning is affecting the game. Do you happen to know what kind of temperatures you`re getting on your card while gaming? If not then MSI Afterburner will be able to tell you.

Also try the 2010 VC Redistributables

The registry fix that is posted works for all versions of Witcher 2 and not just Steam.

Checked the 2010 VC Redistributables and its already installed.
I check the temperatures very often with Speedfan and they are good. GPU for example while playing games (including Witcher 2) is never over 55°C.

I use Avira Antivirus and added now the Witcher2e.exe, Launcher.exe to the exceptions of dataobjects and the witcher2.exe to the processes for the realtimescanner.

Will try if it works now.

edit:
ok, i went to flotsam and visited a vendor, sold two things.....aaaand here i´m back again. it crashed.

Does the majority of the crashes happen when you open any merchants inventory including Geralt`s inventory and opening doors as in loading a new area?

Yep. Mostly when i´m doing something like: open inventory, merchants inventory, characteristics, a door to a house, a door when leaving flotsam, looting a corpse, talking to a npc.

At the moment im doing this for testing: load a game in flotsam and then i open inventory, open character, then i go to a vendor, sell some items, run around for some time. i takes nealry 2-5 minutes until it crashes while doing such things.

edit, just a reminder: it NEVER chrashed/crashes when i set the text to english ;)
