More gore in TW3
20.01.2013 @ 04:16 #21
I just realized I never considered TW or TW2 particularly gory. But they ARE! As you guys pointed out, there is dismemberment, incineration, torture, blood, and so on. Man, I am so desensitized!
Anyway, I like both games the way they are. Add more gore and it becomes a Mortal Kombat 3 Fatality. How would you like 4 ribcages coming out of a single body?

Facio, Voco, Ferre.
PC does not equal Windows. Personal computers run many different operating systems, like GNU/Linux and, why not, Windows. PC games should be available for all major platforms. Let's not be handcuffed and tied to one vendor. Utilize standard, cross-platform technologies!

In the books, Geralt is told once that he has a disgusting style of killing (might be before or after the slaughter at Blaviken).
So I think more feedback on Geralt's sword-work (i.e. more mutilation etc.) would not be out of place. Not that I call for continuous bloodbaths.

I voted for having a balance, which in my book means... Keep the blood spilling as it is.
Severed limbs(head included) are always fun, but I would add them only if you could aim properly in TW3 (
to TW2 targetting system...)

It's not about the amount, but the detail and the persistence. DA2's blood explosions were ridiculous.
In TW1 they hit a good spot with the pale, fleshy look of monsters, combined with seeing lasting cuts add up on them, the finishers, the dismemberment, and the blood splatters on the floor and walls. It did a good job driving in the message that a witcher's work ain't pretty.
TW2 kinda disappointed me in that regard - no bloody cuts (occasional dismemberment and splatter's a plus though), bodies quickly turning into squeaky clean sacks o' loot, monster designs being more glowy and magical etc. Again, it's not about dumping buckets of the red stuff - detail and persistence is where it's at.
It's far from a dealbreaker for me, but I'd love it if the aftermath of killing a bunch of people in TW3 looks like it would have that Blaviken effect.

"The dwarves of yore made mighty spells, while hammers fell like ringing bells,
In places deep where dark things sleep, in hollow halls beneath the fells.
For ancient king and elvish lord, there many a gleaming golden hoard,
They shaped and wrought and light they caught, to hide in gems on hilt of sword."

More gore/blood will make the game less serious and more silly. Game was designed for adults not kids. Darksiders was made for Cartoon Network audience.
But... if you finished the game on Hard for example, it would be nice to have a menu unlocked that gives you some modifications to the game for next playthought. Like playing with Witcher 1 skin or Letho skin etc.

Aah yes. This wouldn't make the game silly at all, right?

The only thing I'd like to see are wounds. For example, when you put your sword, trough enemy's throat (it's one of the finishing moves). It would be much more realistic, to just see how the sword cuts trough it. But blood, or gore? I don't really think it's needed, maybe a bit, but not too much

Once I cut an arm off at the end of the succubus quest. Didn't even know that was possible until that point, so a little more of that might be welcome.
Then again, better to have something like that be understated than overstated. Certain eye-opening scenes (subtlety achieved!) would quickly lose their impact if we were routinely inflicting similar and worse horrors on every unnamed soldier who crossed our path.
I'm not here anymore, but there are still three ways to find me. First, you can go into a room with all the lights off and say my number three times while looking into a mirror. A bit macabre, admittedly. The second way would be to post a craigslist ad for anonymous sex, but don't be writing checks you can't cash, sweet stuff. Ahem. The third and most tasteful method would be to just check out my site where I review stuff because I'm a hyper-judgmental human being.

True, but I definitely think that Geralt in fact does slaughter his enemies quite horribly... being hit by a sword swung the way it's swung by Geralt would seriously rearrange your anatomy.

Gore ain't all about blood there's bones and intestines and stuff too. I think the latter has more impact than the former, like cutting someone's jaw off is cooler than cutting the head clean off.

So yeah a little bone here and there would be nice and some actual cuts on the body like the second assassins face during the necromantic ritual with you and Dethmold.
It'd also be cool if they were still alive and just having their final moments down there and you deliver the killing blow and they don't just die instantly. It makes you feel pity for them. I remember one of the soldiers shout Mommy! just before you kill them and yeah felt bad.
but MORE ARMOR = LESS GORE
It could be an interesting C&C mechanic as well. Letho really sucks at killing elves like Ciaran,Ceadric the Elven prisoner in the Kaedweni camp. If you don't finish off some dude it might have some affect on the story that'd be cool right?
I'm that guy who won that t-shirt.
