More gore in TW3
19.01.2013 @ 21:07 #3
I don't think there is a reason of TW3 being more gory, it just don't fit with the saga of books or the games :S . Besides, more gore and blood would be unrealistic and would stain the game's atmosphere, presenting a more "visceral panorama".
In fact, I was shocked by some gory comic cut-scenes in The Witcher 2, because it just stood out from the rest of the game. Like trying to give more cruelty to something that is already cruel by itself (meaning the slaughters and that stuff).

OP is probably a gorephile. Witcher's "bloody" enough as it is, thanks. ›››

Well... he maybe meant that he wanted for body parts to be taken off seperatly. As to, allow some of the kills to chop off heads, or seperate arms, etc. But, I don't see as if this would make any good difference. I liked the ammount of gore as it was, perfect for me.
You want gore over gore? Go get some Warhammer 40k, we're pretty neat here. n.n-b

Personally I thought that Assassins of Kings got it about right, and both Dragon Age's went overboard with it, to the point of silliness. I do miss the body parts lying around in the first game though, that was seriously sick, then again we've got the quite gruesome cutscene kills.

I have waited many years for the Incline to begin. False prophets I have followed and obscure lore perused, but always there has been nought but the bitter taste of disappointment at the end of my travails. Still I do not give up, I do not falter with weariness. Even if it should never come to pass I will still believe and search, for the Incline is beautiful and it SHOULD exist.

DA2 went overboard with it DAO had a nice balance. ›››
Yeah, DA2 was silly, wasn't it? Characters were completely dripping with gore after every fight. Instead of making the combat look more serious, it just made it look more cartoonish ... which actually fit very well with DA2's combat system.
I liked having heads roll by in TW1; I hope we'll get them back in TW3.
Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.
I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.
I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

I kind of liked the "blood feature" of The Witcher 1. You could see patterns of blood on the floor that changed with your fighting style. It looked as if the blood spurted directly from the tip of the sword.

DAO was good with the gore it didn't go overboard but it didn't skimp out ether and thanks bro and having more executions and having a moderate bloodier combat would't be so bad.

I don't think more blood and gore is necessary in TW3, we don't want the game to become a Tarantino movie
That said, I think the game has enough cutting off legs and heads as it is

There is no head cutting..
In TW1 there was a glorious spinning sword swipe that'd leave a foe's head twenty paces away. Ah, memories...
