The problem with open world games I have is:
- that the outside world is too empty, dead which makes it boring
- there is anything worth exploring
- the quest's are too generic and boring (bring me x of this, go to x and kill the monster, ...)
- (My main problem) in games like two worlds, elder scroll games. Why am I the only one traveling outside the world (road, forest, mountain, etc. I want to see somebody) and getting attacked by enemies or monsters? There should be some npc getting attacked or go hunting too, the monsters should sometimes attack each other too.
- the main story is weak or not even existent.
the only open world game I liked so far and got me existent was skyrim, but that was because of the world which was more alive than other open world focused games.
So if CDP Red can solve these problem, than they can surely go for an open world game.
It's not really a problem, they only have to look at the open world aspects on the two witcher games, make it quite bigger in TW3 and make sure you can travel to each location, city, village whenever you want without going to a map and select your destiny.
Also by the meaning of open world, it doesn't mean it have to be big, but just large enough to go from one place to another without borders (loading screens) or selecting the destiny on a map or sth. Every place (or most of it) on the world map should be accessible by going on foot.
