I wonder if this will be a third continuity, or somehow tie into either the movies or the series? Honestly, I'm kind of hoping it turns out more like SAC than the films; for all of the good things that the films did, the series was much more adroit at storytelling.
I'm not here anymore, but there are still three ways to find me. First, you can go into a room with all the lights off and say my number three times while looking into a mirror. A bit macabre, admittedly. The second way would be to post a craigslist ad for anonymous sex, but don't be writing checks you can't cash, sweet stuff. Ahem. The third and most tasteful method would be to just check out my site where I review stuff because I'm a hyper-judgmental human being.

Totally agree. The films were great for establishing the setting and atmosphere, but the characterization and storytelling of the SAC series is superior.

I know exactly how you feel. Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill, Ninja Gaiden, and the list goes on and on. GITS is the one thing coming out of Japan that still excites me, don't fuck it up.
