Color is really important to me, as anyone who played "Medical Problems 1" could probably tell. :teeth: I especially like a really saturated blue and most shades of purple, so I tend to name my characters "Cobalt," "Sapphire," or "Amethyst."

Since there are women named "Ruby," I figure "Sapphire" and "Amethyst" aren't that strange for a woman's name, so I use them with my more girly characters. I usually use "Cobalt" when I'm creating a character who I expect to be especially tough. When I started my most recent play-through of Baldur's Gate, my husband came up, looked at my character, and said, "So, is this Sapphire?"

I may be over-using those names a tad. :D
Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

I used to be impatient about starting a game, especially considering how long it took to create a character in the good old Infinity Engine games. So I would come up with something teenagerish and menacing like "Bloodskull". Yep, that was the name of my very first Baldur's Gate character.

After that I actually gave it some thought and tried to think of a name appropriate for the game/setting and mood, relying on fantasy clichés and using name and surname. For example, something like Ragnar Thunderhammer would have been appropriate for a dwarven warrior. I never chose that one name in particular though, but nowadays I keep thinking Ragnar Lodbrok (like the hero) would be a good name for a dwarf. It just sounds so... dwarven.

Eventually I got into the whole scandinavian/norse mythology thing and decided to stick with that to name my characters. Especially like the Volsung clan as you can tell, so I'm usually "Volsung". I also deformed names from a few gothic kings, like Eormanric and Alareik, and germanic chieftains like Arminius.

Sometimes I choose simple names. My Fallout character throughout the series was simply "Karl".

Recently for Legend of Grimrock I gave my characters all sorts of names, like Snapper, Claws and Fricka. But I couldn't resist those gray walls and named my minotaur Asterion. Who would seriously venture down a dark labyrinth without a minotaur?
Facio, Voco, Ferre.

PC does not equal Windows. Personal computers run many different operating systems, like GNU/Linux and, why not, Windows. PC games should be available for all major platforms. Let's not be handcuffed and tied to one vendor. Utilize standard, cross-platform technologies!

VtM:B character: Scarlett. I know, never heard such a name related to a vampire before! It's pretty cliched, but I thought it appropriate because I made her a Toreador, the type of vampire that's very vain and usually into arts/entertainment. I was thinking of Vivien Leigh as Scarlet O'Hara. ›››

This is probably what I'll do for Cyberpunk, naming the character after famous philosopher scientist, actor or character in films.
I'm that guy who won that t-shirt.

I'll try to use an in-universe naming scheme if there is one. If not, I try to pick something simple and from another culture which lends it a bit of exotic air. I've used the Norse name Idun, the Greek Tekla, the Turkish Esra (or a variant like Esira). I've used Eren in a couple games. Veleda is actually my Skyrim Stormcloak character, named after the Germanic priestess who foretold the downfall of the legions in the Batavi rebellion. My Fallout 3 characters were all Irish female names, and my Fallout New Vegas characters were Rey and Rue.

Mainly use short version of my name "Sam". If my character is a necromancer its Xzar the Mad :)/>
And i use kind of nicknames instead normal names. Like "Firefist", "Rageclaw", "Riverwind", "Ironbeard" or such. Sounds like native American.

And when i'm drunk, i use funny (if you are 10 years olds) Turkish/Ottoman names, I often regret those ones...

I often use elven inspired names like Aerwen or something like that.
Though after playing TW2 for the first time I started naming my characters Vernon because I really like the name Vernon :D
