Eyy, so a friend of mine gifted The Witcher EE to me on Steam last night. It ran fine all through last night, with only the occasional auto-save game crash (auto-save is now disabled). I got up to just before entering the Salamandra Hideout in the Outskirts of Vizima.

Today, when I went to play, I got all the way through the hideout/cave with no problems. When I go to exit the cave and have the dialogue with the Reverend and his gang, no problems. After Geralt says that he's going back inside to get Abigail, the screen goes dark with sound still playing, and then proceeds to crash. After re-loading and replaying through all that many times (at least eight), I figured something was wrong. Can any of y'all help me?

Also, I tried updating the patch to 1.5, but when I tried to run it, it said that it could not identify the current version, and then stopped the update.

Try disabling or exiting Rocket Dock, Fusion , and the Steam overlay . Also do a game cache integrity check if you haven`t already.

How would I do a game cache integrity check?

Open Steam>Library and right click The Witcher and select properties and in the window that opens click the local files tab and it`s in there.

Okay, I've tried all that. The Cache Integrity Check came up totally fine. I'm uninstalling a couple of other superfluous programs to see if that does anything. In the meantime, here's the error log:

Whelp, no luck so far. Although now, when it crashes, a Windows dialogue box pops up saying that the program has crashed and that it's looking for a solution to the problem, so that's...something, right?

Anyway, here's the most recent error log:

Going to try a full reboot now.

ok now would be a good time to list system specs. Also I noticed that your system memory is running at 80% in use . Try closing any and all unnecessary programs.

You also went from 2940 MB physical memory in the first dump to 1024 MB physical memory in the second dump. To me, that suggests a memory problem, such as memory that fails to be detected during POST. I would do a memory check next (use "memtest").

The Windows dialog box suggesting that Windows is looking for a solution is a forlorn hope. Microsoft knows nothing about The Witcher and will not find a solution.

Shall during off hours exhibit his powers

Well, it turns out that rebooting did the trick! I'm still going to post my system specs in case y'all have any more words of wisdom for me.

Thanks!
