Hello,

I've run into a bit of a problem with the Kayran; having checked the internet it appears there is some problem with my video card handling the quick-time sequence against the Kayran; if I hack off all four tentacles and get grabbed, I'm always shaken off even though the quicktime bar is filled, so the Kayran never knocks the bridge down on top of itself. As a result, I get stuck standing there and grabbed over and over again, but can never finish it off. I've seen a few threads here where help is offered by forum members, and would really appreciate it if someone could get me past the Kayran, since the Witcher 2 Nexus is down and the save files I have been able to locate for myself have different decisions made in the first Witcher and so far as I have gone in The Witcher 2.

Can you check your savegames again? The three in the zip and 7z downloads are all from the early prologue.

If you're using the Steam version and have Steamcloud turned on, the files may be in your Program Files/Steam folder. If you're not using the Steam version, they should be in Documents/Witcher 2/gamesaves. If you're struggling to find them, try a search for autosave_0

Oops. They were at the top of the file list; I thought that meant they were the most recent >.< These should be the right ones; they're the newest saves.

Well your save was just after talking Cedric. I checked the corpse, took the items from the wreckage, made a moongose potion and killed it.

Don't forget to loot the Kayran corpse.

Hi, Terry. If you get someone else's save, it'll be their game, with their decisions, abilities, inventory, and so on. It's a lot better if you can upload your savegame and let someone play past the fight for you, as WrathAscending did. There should be an autosave immediately before the fight.

Well, I'm kind of embarrassed, I registered just to ask for help, but well, this has also been a way to discover a good forum

You need to loot, level up, collect your reward.

Incidentally, are you using my Remove DM Effects mod? If you're not, the reason you're having problems with this fight could be that you have the DM swords equipped but not the rest of the DM equipment. This makes you take damage throughout a fight, even if you don't get hit. You may want to change to different swords.

(Also let me know if you have any problem downloading. I don't usually use mediafire and I set up the account quickly, so I'm not sure if I missed any sharing settings).

It is true about DM sword - but I have no mods and quite weak computer (old) so it would be not possible to make past that monster. Thx again.

In this case, the swords were probably a bigger problem than your weak computer. For the first time ever, I had to cheat to get past the kayran.

I suggest you resolve this (change swords, get the rest of the equipment, or install my mod) as quickly as you can, otherwise you may find yourself dying a lot in the near future. Those swords are really not meant to be used except as part of the full set.

As Geralt would say, "That fight was tough."

I face-palmed all over the place last night, got really frustrated and almost quit and deleted the game but perseverance and quick-thinking finally paid-off.

One trick was to set yrden and stand for a moment on that spot until you see the kayran raise its diseased tentacle towards your position then quickly rolling to the side as it slams.

Hah, it took me only 3 minutes to defeat that bloody thing. hehehe
