Hi!

I have played The Witcher 1 when it was released few years ago but lost my CDs since. Few days ago, I've seen Christmas sale on Steam for The Witcher 1 and decided to buy it and download it.

I am running OS X 10.8.2 on MacBook Air 2012:

1,8 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB

I know that this is not a gaming machine but I managed to play for two hours without any problems on a decent quality settings. My problem was, however, that I had to precisely plan and purge unwanted files on my drive as this MacBook has flash memory and I got the smallest version (128GB or something). After installation, I had 1,7GB free space so I thought I should be okay. But I didn't take into consideration how much space my autosaves would take.

After two hours of playing, before a cutscene, I got an error that there's not enough space to save the game. I pressed Enter and the game quit. I had about 70MB free space and I really wanted to remind myself the beauty of TW1 so I fired up an external drive and moved my iPhoto library temporarily. Now I've got about 27GB free space so I should be fine.

But I can't launch the game - I keep getting error that "Minimum requirements are not met". I did search the Internet and learned that the solution is simply to edit the shortcut and add the -dontForceMinReqs attribute. But I'm running OS X and as far I can tell, it doesn't support such tricks.

As I said, I bought the game via Steam and I see that I can go to Properties and edit the launch attributes there. I tried it but to no avail:

I guess that game crash must have broken something. Can you give me any troubleshooting tips? Should I try including a space before the hyphen? Include a path? I have really weak Internet connection here (in terms of speed) so I would much appreciate a solution that doesn't include redownloading the whole game :>

P.S. I've read that I should register my game in order to expect any help from you guys. But where can I do that if I bought the game via Steam?

Yes a space before the hyphen is required at least on windows. The registration was required in the old forum, but since the launch of the new forum and no registration is available we take it for granted that everyone has a legit copy.

Okay, I think I have managed to resolve it (I hope). I removed the attribute from the dialog and verified game files (you can find that option in game's Properties). It found 5 corrupted files and re-downloaded them (about 200-300KB). Game still not launches properly most of the time - it quits after I see black screen for a second but after few launches it works smoothly.
