Hi guys, I have a problem with Witcher EE (1.5). I just purchased it on Steam and downloaded it. When I tried to start it, Steams popped up with the error in the title after a few seconds. I tried to run Steam and exe as an Administrator and without it. If I run Steam without Administartor, it asks my permission twice before giving the error. With Administrator, it just gives out the error after a few seconds. I deleted Tages. Tried to re-download the game and also verified integrity.

My system specs: Windows 7 64 bit, i5, Geforce GT 635M, 8GB ram

I read a lot of Witcher problems on the net, but didn't find this one. Hope you can help me.

Have you looked in the task manager in Windows, to see if there's any running Witcher programs?

Sometimes a game or program will not shut down properly, and leaves a process behind which makes it impossible to run it again before it has been killed.. The program will check to see if it's already running as a process, and if it finds the "lost" process it figures that the game must already be running. />

If Vinterberg`s advice doesn`t work for you then restart the computer and retry the game.

I opened the task manager and tried to start the game several times. Sometimes I saw 2 Witcher program running but they shut down immediately when the error pops up. I think the problem is that Steam tries to run the program twice because I can see the "Preparing first time setup" message 2 times before the error and thats why Steam asks my permission twice.

Yes, I tried to restart my notebook several times.

Ok, I decided to reinstall Steam and guess what, problems solved. Thanks for the help though guys.
