Can you disable the Dark-mode set item combat effects?

It's quite distracting. Half of the enjoyment of this game for me is the amazing visuals on my 2560x1440 30" screen with sli'd 670's, ya know? And when I'm in combat its like this constant humming noise and the screen goes all gray, it's very depressing. I might just switch it to insane difficulty because I'm not enjoying this so far, just finished chapter 1 on dark mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

Or maybe there's a mod out there?

Edit:

Nevermind, M4xw0lf beat me a few seconds to it. :P
I left my heart to the Wild Hunt a-comin'. I live until the call. And I plan to be forgotten when I'm gone. Yes, I'll be leaving in the fall.

To be fair, you could just, you know, not use the weapons? You'll find better weapons later anyway. Much better, in fact. The Oathbreaker armour looks beyond amazing and is a must have for anyone. The weapons are meh and the effect just distract from the glorious design. So I agree with the sentiment. God damn do I love the Oathbreaker!

But yeah, I see some kind soul have provided you with a link to a mod that disables the effects. Happy hunting bro!
Tearing my hair out, trying to figure out why there aren't any non-human Witchers, or at least something equivalent to a Witcher oriented warrior.

I quit using the Dark gear as I feel the game already provides much cheaper gear to craft that gets the job done. The Dark sets do look awesome though, I'd like them to make a return in TW3 sans the visual effects.

Not using the swords is of course the easiest choice, and in my opinion they aren't worth the hassle anyway.

Yeah, but if you don't use the swords, you can't do this with them. ;D

(But you're right of course. Not using the swords is the simplest solution)

They are amazing. The life leech for when you screw up and get hit is invaluable. I feel pigeonholed into farming these so I don't get pwned. As a swordsman spec anyway.
