Metro 2033 is one of the coolest, most awesome games I've ever played. Oddly enough, I'm not at all hyped for the sequel. Maybe it's a defence mechanism, I don't want to get myself all worked up only to be disappointed by a lacklustre sequel. Or maybe I genuinly don't give a shit because lightning doesn't strike twice. The first game was so fucking amazing and atmospheric, how could you ever hope to accomplish that.

Still keeping my eyes on it. Hopefully it'll be good :)
Tearing my hair out, trying to figure out why there aren't any non-human Witchers, or at least something equivalent to a Witcher oriented warrior.

I prefer this gameplay video. But damn, this npc needs to shut up sometimes.

Looks pretty hardcore, think i'll get it.

Have you played the first one? Excellent game and fyi it's apart of the THQ humble bundle if you're interested. The game is gorgeous but can be a real bitch to run if you have a sucky PC like mine.

Hm. Well fuck me in the nostrils and call me Anastasia. What more can I say than touché! :P

I guess I'm just a cynical little fucker then. Since I can't blame my cynicism on the fact that Metro Last Light is a sequel, I guess the only argument I have left is the fact that Metro 2033 was so self contained, it really doesn't need a sequel. I'm happy with the experience I've had and don't want anything to ruin it. Though that's still a lame excuse.

This is rather strange. This is the first time I've ever felt this way about a sequel to a game I really love. I can't explain this. I want to look forward to Last Light but can't help but feel that the developers will probably dumb it down for the lowest common denominator or just deteriorate in quality. I don't know. I'm hoping for the best but my heart is still wary. Almost like a defence mechanism. Any psychologist out there, feel free to explain this shit to me.

Though I have to give you props for that retort, haven't gotten owned that hard in a very long time ^^ :D

I was tempted to buy Metro 2033 once or twice, but can anyone tell me - is it a horror? Is it scary?

That's to be expected, when looking at the games industry - broken promises, money-making schemes and unfinished products only leads to those feelings you have... :/

But they abandoned multiplayer in Metro: Last Light to be able to produce a high quality singleplayer experience, so that shows something about them being serious about their franchise.. I believe that Metro: Last Light will be a top-notch game, my faith in these guys is the same as it is with CDPR, Runic Games and Fatshark.. :D

It came be pretty intense at times, it's got a great story and beautiful graphics - I would call it an intense action FPS, not horror :D
It shifts between scary/intense moments and sneak-sniper-strategic combat..

If you find it on sale somewhere, try it out! But make sure your PC is good enough to handle it properly, it's pretty taxing ^^

I'm asking because I don't like scary games, horror movies and so on. They're not good for my health as I have heart problems. I enjoyed F.E.A.R for example, but it was right on the edge of my tolerance. I have problems with scenes where something suddenly jumps out of darkness screaming etc(FEAR had such scene, while climbing some ladder), they spike my blood pressure too much :)

It's got solid shooting mechanics, quite realistic and in the vein of modern military shooters. It's atmospheric but I wouldn't say scary, not like Amnesia is. One thing that really bugs me about it is the voice acting. There's too much yammering on and the accents sound so cheesy.

Red Faction: Armageddon is a very nice game in my opinion, give it a go when you got time set aside!!

I was also tempted by the game and eventually bought it recently during the Summer Sale on Steam (yeah, kill me now) and while liked it a lot, one thing I hated is that the AI acts weird; when NPCs spot a corpse they tend to know where you exactly are even if you're well hidden so when you leave your cover they most certainly will shoot you down immediately. That makes the stealth approach of the game a real pain in the ass. But I still done it that way and still enjoyed it. The story is decent, it has a great athmosphere and fairly good shooting mechanics.
I wouldn't call it scary, more like 'eerie'.

I know, i love the first, one thing that always put me off before is that they change the style, i hate it that they moved the game underground, other than that, it looks good enough!
