The Humble THQ Bundle is now live. You can grab six games for only $1 and if you beat the average you also get Saints Row the Third plus the soundtracks to all of them. You only get a redeemable key on Steam by the way. The only DRM downloads are the soundtracks but still an amazing deal. I gave $30 since THQ is having financial trouble and they are one of the bigger publishers that help release quality games like Metro 2033 and Company of Heroes.

Go out and buy them now!

A good deal, thanks for posting Chromie. So THQ is supposedly on hard times, but I haven't really been following the story.

How they butchered last red faction and the fact that I got 5/8 of the games proposed makes me hesitate ...

None of these are games I'm interested in actually playing...and THQ isn't exactly a favorite of mine. I'll get em, hell I'll even pay for Saints Row Third.

Honestly, I just want them to stay afloat until the South Park rpg and I do like Metro 2033.

Not really interested in any of those games, and Shteam is a red line, so I'm out.

So exactly why didn't they just do a massive steam sale?

Good question. I'm already stuck with Steam and had tons of fun with SR3 so I'll toss some cash their way.

I assume it has to do with Steam getting a cut of the profits and so far this bundle has made over $630k.

Help them? I'm not a charity. I'm attending university full time. If they make products that are worth my money, then yeah I'd buy them.

Besides, the only games that are worth having, I already have. Recently bought the DLC for Saints Row during the Steam sale. Not worth it, even on sale. So I say, don't support THQ. I'm tired of them milking the fans with subpar and inferior quality products. Personally, can't wait until they crash and burn.
Tearing my hair out, trying to figure out why there aren't any non-human Witchers, or at least something equivalent to a Witcher oriented warrior.

I already own Darksiders, CoH, and Metro 2033. I also beat most of Saints Row when Steam had free to play one weekend. So I just put down $5.20 so I could get Saints Row and finally beat it. Maybe I'll get around to playing Red Faction at some point (didn't seem to be rated too great anyway).

I saw one person put $1K down, I'm assuming most of that is for charity rather than THQ.

Anyway, right now it's up to 900K. Not sure how much of that is going to THQ, but even if they get half, that's not a bad day for them.

But how much of that is going to THQ? On the default split Humble Bundle and Child's Play also get a cut. I just don't get the point of doing a bundle seperate of Steam when all of the games need Steam anyway.

Because it's better to give money for charity than for Steam.

And it's better marketing. Pick one: "We have another THQ's Steam sale" or "OMG! THQ is the first big publisher that used Humble Bundle!"

I understand your position but it's a real good deal for that many games. And I do like some of titles they've published even if they were milking fans with their DLC.

I don't know why people are offended because of SR3 DLC. If someone want to pay for stripper costume or banana costume then it's his problem. It's not something important for the game. 4 DLCs that are significant are properly priced, have nice amount of content and were made after release, so I don't see a problem.

It's not like making a story DLC before release.

I just checked my email and had a message from the Humble Bundle people (I usually participate) about a THQ Bundle! They already had publisher-related bundles (like Frozenbyte) but I thought it was awkward that a major publisher would be featured like that... like they needed support. Well, apparently they do, according to Chromie. So let's pretend it's true.

In such case, I think it's OK to lend a hand to a company that put out games like Company of Heroes and Dawn of War, true PC games with excellent gameplay, setting, writing and yes, visuals. I really don't care about the shooters, but Relic's games are what got me back into the strategy genre. If supporting THQ means they can fund more games by Relic, then it's a great idea. Too bad it's tied to Steam and Windows only.

So if anyone wants to play a (Windows only, Steam tie-in) real-time strategy PC game, Company of Heroes is THE game that revolutionized the genre. And it comes with DLC. That combo alone is worth at least ten dollars. Keep in mind Company of Heroes 2 is coming out soon, so it might be a way to get people hooked.
Facio, Voco, Ferre.

PC does not equal Windows. Personal computers run many different operating systems, like GNU/Linux and, why not, Windows. PC games should be available for all major platforms. Let's not be handcuffed and tied to one vendor. Utilize standard, cross-platform technologies!

Decently priced I guess but some of it was worthless. Not a big fan of selling outfits as DLC. I'm perfectly content with what I got out of SR3 though.

Get out of here. THQ are one of the few publishers who put consistently out quality titles, insinuating that they give their devs much leeway, and they take care of their PC ports. SR3 and Metro2033 have amazing PC ports.

I'll support ANY developer that can be stuffed making good PC ports. So i say, do support THQ, if you like your pc and it's ability to play games.
