Hey there everyone,

Today during steam autumn sales, I traded an extra natural selection 2 i had for a copy of witcher 2 with a friend.

After adding it to my game library, when i try to install or play it, unfortunatelly it says this message about region lock.

I have never faced something like this before. I always thought that region locked games couldnt be added to my steam library. Can someone offer me a solution that does not envolve me having to buy the game again?

Thanks a lot for anyone willing to help

Sure, just find out which region this game is meant for (probably Russia) and get yourself a VPN program to access Steam via a proxy server. Unfortunately you’d have to do that every time you start up the game which can be a little annoying.
Either that or try getting your free backup copy from GOG.com if you still have the code. Alternatively you could also contact the Steam support and reverse the trade or something if you’re sure that this shouldn’t have happened and is actually a bug.

But yeah, I hope this taught you a lesson on why you shouldn’t support DRM-pushing control freaks like Valve.

I would try getting a back up copy, as Demut is saying. Go GOG.com whenever possible because their games aren't region locked.

Yep. CDPR added the free backup at GoG exactly for these instances.
