So my aunt just came form Poland, and she brought me a copy of witcher 2
so I went through standard installation, and then it asked me for activation keys. On the back of one of the two booklets where 2 codes, one for some secuROM online thing the other for registering some CD Projekt thing, so i tried the CD Projekt one and I geussed it worked. Then it started up some installation wizard, says enhanced edition patch, asked me if i wanted russian, english german voiceovers blahblahblah, and after is select english it starts downloading but never finishes, always errs and says something like sorry the files could not be copied blah blah and you can probably tel im dont know much about computers but can i play the game without having to download this stuff, or like is there another way to launch that doesnt involve asking me for key then starting up installation?

Try claiming your digital backup copy from GOG with the Enhanced Edition already patched in .
http://www.gog.com/witcher2/backup . Just follow the link and use your CD Projekt RED cd-key . When registering use your forum login information instead of the cd-key .

Have you tried substituting different characters for the key . Such as l (letter) for a 1 (number) also 0 (zero) for O (letter) . Barring that do you know how to do a file integrity check for MD5 numbers . If not i can explain it .

Yes there ire ways to play the game . Download and install this patch .
http://en.thewitcher.com/patch1-35/
Then run the game from the witcher2exe that can be found in the witcher 2/bin folder .

If you want to install the EE then you will need to run some MD5 numbers to ensure that you have all good files and to make sure that no errors appear while installing the EE patch .

ok i think the best is to take it one step at a time .
How much free space do you have on your hard drive ? Click start and then computer , there will be a window showing your hard drive . If it`s a prebuilt computer it will show something like HP (C:) or DELL (C:) then below it there should be a bar showing the free space left .
What is your OS ? XP , Vista , or 7

Heh, as soon as I finished reading the OP I suspected this would be about too little disk space :P

I don`t know how large your hard drive is but 24GB doesn`t sound like very much . Try running the windows disc cleanup utility .
Click start>all programs>accessories>system tools>disc cleanup then select either my files only or all files, put a check in the appropriate boxes in the dialog box and click ok . Let it finish then recheck the free space available . Note that windows itself needs about 15% free space . How large is your hard drive and after running the utility how much free space is available .

Yes . Just create a folder on the other drive and name it GAMES . Then when installing the witcher 2 your install directory should read
E:\GAMES\Witcher 2

Yes, there should be a Launcher.exe in the installation folder.

Click the launcher then options and from there you should be able to turn down your settings . Which patch did you try and install ? Did any errors appear while patching the game ?

What is your hardware? One possible explanation is that your hardware is inadequate for the game. While there's some leeway with the minimum requirements, you can't be too far below them and expect the game to play.
